Formal Dinner – Millie Austin

This week we had Old Collegian and boarder, Millie Austin, share her journey with us as part of our Term Two Formal Dinner. Millie graduated in the Class of 2020 as Berry House Captain while also Captaining both Swimming and Cross Country. After a gap year in Broken Hill, she completed three years at Charles Sturt University and now works with the Australian Wool Network. For our boarders, it was wonderful for them to hear Millie's post-school life story that demonstrates determination, courage, and resilience.

Millie shared her ups and downs with the boarders m with strong themes of self-worth, never giving up, and making lifelong friends at College. Millie’s story resonated with so many boarders as she shared a deep insight into the Agriculture industry, specifically the wool industry, providing inspiration for students considering this field and a role model for the girls.

We were all amazed with Millie’s confidence and command of the evening.  She is certainly living her confident future! Thank you, Millie, for sharing your journey thus far and enjoy Italy as you travel abroad in your work capacity.

A brief break from homework

After hours of study, the Year 7 and 8 boarders settled into their common room for some well-earned downtime. Lego has been all the rage this term, and it was good to see our junior boarders quietly focus on their builds, patiently working through each step or creating their own designs. It is wonderful to see our boarders working together, forming friendships over small projects. Whether constructing detailed vehicles, cozy houses, or imaginative creatures, each had their own build but shared the time working together. It was a peaceful break that rewarded patience and careful attention. Some very proud Lego builders here!

Boarder of the week

Daniel Li is our boarder of the week. Daniel is from mainland China and has settled into the rhythm of boarding very well indeed. Daniel is enjoying the Thursday evening sports hosted by Mr Guez in the Sports Centre and his language skills are superb. Daniel looks forward to becoming a doctor in the future which I am sure he will achieve.

Congratulations Daniel on your impressive boarding journey thus far and your dedication to your studies. An impressive example for us all to follow. Enjoy your time with your family over the holidays.
