Thank you to those Senior School parents who were able to come along to the Explore and Emerge Information Night last night. While it seems a long time until 2026, the subject selection and timetabling processes are complex ones, so we like to get started early. Further information regarding how to submit subject selections from Year 8-12 2026 will be provided by Anna Robertson, so please ensure that you are aware of the process and the deadlines.
I was pleased to read that Old Collegian Dr Bruce Webber, our speaker at last year’s Scholars’ Assembly, has been appointed Bush Heritage Australia’s new Executive Manager of Science and Conservation. Bruce credits his Myrniong years with sparking his interest in the sciences, his appointment announcement recounting that “In Grade Two, Dr Webber uncovered a seven-million-year-old shark tooth in a paddock near his primary school in western Victoria”. I look forward to working further with Bruce on plans for sustainability and environmental education at our Mirranatwa property. Congratulations, Bruce, this is a wonderful appointment.
During the last week of this term, I will be taking a short period of sabbatical leave to visit the UK. I will present at the ISATT conference in Glasgow and visit several schools, including Lambrook School, Trent College, and Harris Westminster. I look forward to sharing the ideas gleaned from the visits when I return. Kristen Waldron will be Acting Principal for the final week of the term.
It was a very special gathering in the Tower Building last Friday, with staff farewelling Mrs Linda Archer. Linda finishes up at College next Friday, 27 June. We wish Linda all the best and safe journeys as she hits the road for her retirement. She will be greatly missed.
