Grade 4 Community News

As Term 2 draws to a close, students continue to apply themselves diligently across all areas of their learning. It's a great time to reflect on and celebrate the many achievements they’ve made so far. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the parents and carers, for your ongoing support it’s truly appreciated by both teachers and students!
Reading
In Reading, we are continuing our unit on The impact of Settlement. At the end of this unit students will have an understanding of the changes made by Settlement and how it affected not only the people but also animals and landscapes in Australia. Next week students will be completing a one week unit on Rabbits, where they explore the effects of images both still and moving in picture books.
Writing
In Writing, we are coming to the end of the unit and students are currently working on publishing their historical narratives, so they can share them with you all on Thursday. They have put so much time and effort into their work to make them perfect, so they are so excited to share them with each other and their community. In week 11, students will be completing a one week unit on Multimodal texts, where they will explore the effects of moving and still images. Students will focus on creating their own comic strip where they will incorporate the use of drawings, captions, speech and thought bubbles.
Maths
In Maths, we are mid way through completing our Addition and Subtraction unit. Students have been learning about fact families and equivalent addition and subtraction number sentences. Students have the understanding that addition and subtraction have an inverse relationship that can be applied when performing additive calculations.
