Grade 2 Community News
Dear Grade 2 Families,
We are continuing to have an amazing term 2. The students are working hard to achieve their learning goals in EMP for Maths and InitiaLit.
English
In InitiaLit, we have been focusing on mastering a variety of spelling rules, such as,‘oy’, ‘oi’, ‘ph’ saying /f/ and the triagraphs ‘ear and ‘eer’ along with new tricky words such as tomorrow, school, cousin and through. Each week we have been focusing on our vocabulary words and identifying if they are nouns, verbs or adjectives. During comprehension lessons, we were learning how to ask questions before, during and after we read a text.
Maths
In Maths, the students have been continuing to build their confidence in multiplication by skip counting and setting up change problems. We also continue to learn about capacity and 3D objects.
Knowledge Building
The students have enjoyed learning about People and Places in Werribee and the history behind it. They have enjoyed putting it all together to make board games to play with their parents at our Year 2 Open Day today.
Reminders:
Werribee Mansion Excursion- next week our classes will be going to Werribee Mansion for our excursion. We will be travelling to and from the venue via bus and will be returning to school at the normal finish time of 3:10pm. Please ensure student is at school on time, 8.45am.
Student must be in their full school uniform and will need to bring with them:
- Snack/lunch in a small, lightweight bag (name should be labelled)
- Refillable drink bottle
- Reading every night - Some students have now reached beyond 75 nights of reading! Keep it up!
- Arrive on time - School starts at 8:45am. Please ensure that your child is at their classroom by this time, ready for learning to begin.
- School finishes at 2:30pm on Friday 4th July. Term 3 will recommence on Monday 21st July.

- Pupil Free Day - term 3, Monday 28th July
