First Aid Training Sessions

Last Friday we loved our first aid training sessions at Buninyong. What a great experience for our students to get some training and practise in basic first aid procedures. Our students did an amazing job participating and listening respectfully, with us receiving lovely feedback from the instructors about how great our students participated.

Art Gallery Incursion

How lucky our students were to also participate in an indigenous-themed workshop from the Art Gallery of Ballarat. The session was based around students creating a murnong daisy, using traditional styles and techniques, including painting with ochre. What a great way to round off the week!

Scotsburn Assembly - This Friday 27 June

This Friday we will hold our final assembly at Scotsburn for the term. We will look to make this a big end of term celebration for Scotsburn, before the final end of term whole school assembly at Buninyong next week. We would love to see as many parents and friends there - 3:00pm in the shed. Feel free to come early and grab a warm drink and a bite to eat in the old building!

Parent Teacher Conferences and 3-Way Conversations

A reminder that our Parent Conference bookings are open until Thursday this week. We have had lots of bookings already, which is great. If any of the times available don’t fit your schedule, please contact your child’s teacher and they will be more than happy to arrange an alternative time.

A reminder that next Wednesday 2 July is an early 1:00pm finish for our longer interview day.

Holiday animal care

It is that time of the term again where we are putting out the offer for anyone that would be interested and has the time to assist with Pip and our chickens over the holidays. Pip the Lizard would love a holiday at someone’s house, and she is extremely low maintenance! Our chickens will stay onsite, however just need a check for eggs, water and food every few days.

If your family is interested and willing to help, please come and see Jarrod over the next week to make arrangements.

2026 Scotsburn Enrolments

If you know any families that are looking to enrol their child/children for 2026 (or in the foreseeable future), please complete an enrolment form and submit it to the office at Buninyong. If you have any questions, please email Jarrod at jarrod.morgan@education.vic.gov.au

For those considering enrolment at our beautiful campus, the video below is a great snapshot of what we have to offer:

Lunchtime club

With the colder weather now setting in, we want to remind everyone that our Lunchtime Club continues to run each and every day in the shed, as a calm, warm and cooperative play option. Our ES staff do an amazing job coordinating this and we know that it is a very appreciated option on these cold and wintery days.

SC1 Learning Snapshot

Last week was certainly full, with lots of different learning opportunities! On Friday morning we started the day at Buninyong to be involved in the St John First aid course. Grant took the children through some steps a first aider needs to take to help respond to someone in need of help. The students did a great job asking questions and listening during this presentation and we all feel very confident that the students will be able to help anyone in need. Well done SC1!

On Friday we also had Jo and Indiana visit us from the Ballarat Art Gallery at Scotsburn. SC1 were introduced to a traditional water dance, discussions of art and also making a piece of art. The children asked great questions and noticed a lot of changes to Lake Wendouree over the years, and some things that remained the same…including the black swans!

They then created a picture of a murnong daisy using ochre which will be displayed in the classroom for you all to have a look at. We certainly have a creative bunch of students.

In the classroom we have continued to look at non-fiction text, learning some interesting facts about some sea animals. With our Ethics unit we have started to build a board game.

In Maths, we have now started looking for patterns in shape and numbers.

A lot of great learning is happening, well done everyone!

SC2 Learning Snapshot

Over the past week in Reading, we have been learning lots about ancient Chinese Dynasties, linking into our Term 2 Inquiry theme of “Destination Diversity” and our studies of Asia. Students have taken a real interest in many aspects of this study, whilst developing their reading fluency and comprehension skills.

Here are some photos of our jam packed Friday last week which was a great day, with our first aid training and art workshop. It was wonderful to have such a hands on and informative finish to the week.

Have a great week and stay warm!
