Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Term Two is drawing to a close.

Exams have dominated the last couple of weeks for our senior students, as well as assessments for those in younger years. While these moments can bring pressure, they also serve an important purpose, especially in a time when AI can generate answers instantly and automate many routine tasks. The ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and apply knowledge in real time has never been more valuable. Assessments help us measure these skills and give students the chance to develop resilience, reflect on their learning, and take ownership of their progress. Thank you to all students, staff, and families for the support and effort that goes into this period of learning.

A sincere thank you to our Year 10 students and their families for the way they have engaged this term. From work experience to Transition Week and into the Creating Futures Expo, it’s been a period of reflection, planning, and growth. We’ve been impressed by the maturity with which our Year 10 students have approached these opportunities, and we’re grateful to families for their ongoing encouragement and support. This journey continues as we move into individual pathways planning sessions, where each student is supported to take the next step toward their future with clarity and confidence. You may have received this in your letterbox recently - we are just making sure everyone on the Eastern Shore knows we are now a Year 7-12 College. A digital copy can be found here.

We are right in the midst of SATIS finals and I have been lucky enough to attend quite a few games of various sports throughout the term. These experiences always reinforce for me the importance of extracurricular opportunities. They also remind me of the many people who give up their time, as well as the staff that go above and beyond their industrial requirements to build our community. It has been particularly exciting to see the Community and Events area of our community grow this year. Overseen by the ever energetic Mr Hickey, we have looked to broaden and improve our current offerings. We are looking into an improved sign-up system that will further professionalise our approach.

Term Three looks exciting! We were lucky enough to see a glimpse of our upcoming musical at the launch of School of Rock a few weeks ago. Make sure you grab a ticket. If the recent Winter Concert is anything to go by, it will be well worth your time!

We warmly congratulate Bishop Anthony Ireland on his appointment as the new Archbishop of Hobart. With decades of pastoral experience and a deep commitment to serving others, Archbishop-elect Ireland brings wisdom, compassion, and strong leadership to the role. We look forward to his installation in August and to the next chapter for the Church in Tasmania under his guidance.
