From the 3/4 Classrooms

What an exciting term it has been in our Grade 3/4 classrooms! Our students have been engaged in a variety of hands-on and thought-provoking learning activities, all centered around our Integrated Studies topic 'Harmony with H20'. Our topic looked at using Earth's natural resources and the importance of using them sustainably.
During Integrated Studies and STEM sessions, students have been exploring essential topics such as the water cycle, desalination, and filtration. Simple experiments allowed them to see these processes in action, fostering curiosity and deeper understanding. They’ve also tackled the critical issue of plastic pollution in our oceans, reflecting on how small actions, like reducing single-use plastics, can make a big difference.
In addition, students investigated the significance of rainforests, delving into the diverse ecosystems and unique animals of the Amazon. These studies emphasized the interconnectedness of all life and the critical role rainforests play in sustaining our planet.
A major focus this term has been the processes of the water cycle. Using websites, videos, and readings, students conducted in-depth research to understand evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection. They showcased their knowledge through "Hot Writes," where they created detailed explanation texts about how the water cycle works. Students published their work digitally using apps like Book Creator, combining creativity with technical skills.
To end this incredible learning journey, students have been busy designing and building 3D models of the water cycle to share their understanding. These models will be proudly displayed at our End-of-Term Expo, where visitors can see firsthand the hard work and dedication that went into each project.
We are so proud of our Grade 3/4 students for their enthusiasm and effort this term. We look forward to welcoming you to our Expo to celebrate their achievements together!
