Heads of Secondary Years' Report

To our wonderful Hazel Glen community,
What an amazing two weeks we have enjoyed since our last newsletter!
We had lots of fun last week during Book Week and it was wonderful to see so many Secondary Years students and staff dressed up on Tuesday, 19th August. It was certainly a highlight of the year!
We also had a lovely time at the Year 10 Formal at the Manor on High on Friday, 22nd August. The students all looked impressive and did a great job displaying our College values while having a fantastic night. It was such a privilege to share this event with them and it was great that so many of our staff volunteered to attend. We are very grateful to the Year 10 team for their organisation of this event. You can enjoy some of the photos in the Celebrations of Learning and Community section of the newsletter.
For those of you who were lucky enough to secure tickets to the College Production of "Rock of Ages" last night, we are sure you will agree it was a wonderful performance. For those of you who have tickets for tonight, you are in for a treat. This production was a true celebration of talent, hard work, and collaboration. Congratulations to everyone involved. Your efforts made it something truly special!
Behind every successful performance is a dedicated backstage team. Our students and staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes ensured that every detail, from set changes to lighting cues to music and costumes, was perfectly executed. Their efforts were vital to the seamless running of the entire performance. Each student who stepped onto the stage truly brought their character to life with energy and enthusiasm. Their dedication to rehearsals, learning lines and choreography, and refining their performances shone through in every scene.
While those of us in the audience were treated to a wonderful performance, those involved -both on stage and behind the scenes have gained so much more than pride from their performance. Being part of a College Production provides so many lasting benefits, such as building confidence, developing an increased sense of teamwork, fostering creativity, improving performance skills, strengthening time management skills, collaboration and responsibility, all while developing new friendships and lifelong memories.
Don't forget to mark Friday, 12th September in your diary for Parent Teacher Interviews. These will be facilitated online, during the school day. We look forward to seeing you at the Father's Day breakfast next Tuesday morning!
