SPORTS NEWS

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am very excited to announce two upcoming sporting events for Term 3.
EVENT 1
After the success of our House Cross Country Day, we are going to have a House Athletics day (Weather Permitting) for Grades 3-6 on Friday July 25th at Edithvale Reserve (Chelsea Little Athletics Club) from 9.05 am departure from school until 2.45 pm return.
This event will also double as our selection trials for The School Athletics team which will compete at The Moorabbin District Athletics Carnival on Monday September 8th at Duncan McKinnon Reserve. We will run 6 compulsory events, these being: -
100 m
200 m
Long Jump
Triple Jump
Shot put
Discuss
The 800 metres will be restricted to ten children per age group and selected by me after practices at school in PE classes.
High Jump will be run at school in PE and the 1500 will be selected based on the 800 and Cross Country and Event limit restrictions per child (2 events and one relay only allowed on September 8th)
We have hired 6 buses and an official Athletics Software Program in conjunction with electronic timing gates.
The cost for this full day will be $20 per child. We have currently started practicing these difficult events in PE classes.
Event 2
The second event will be an exciting afternoon of activities for our Prep to Grade 2 grades on the last day of Term, Friday Sep 19 from approximately 11am until 1pm.
This day will include:
a 100-metre dash,
a 50-metre shuttle relay,
a tug of war
an egg and spoon race and......................even a Mum's 100 m dash and a Dad’s 100 metre dash.
It should be an amazing day with lots of fun and laughter and will enhance our already strong MPS community spirit. There will be no cost for this event as we will hold it on the adjacent Dane Rd Reserve.
Be on the lookout for a COMPASS Event next week for the July 25, Grade 3-6 Athletics day which will require electronic consent and payment via Compass app.
