Divisional Basketball
BOYS
On Wednesday, the 9th of September the boys team competed in the divisional basketball competition. Across the entire day we competed in 6 games. We got off to a good start by winning due to forfeit, then winning our next game by 40 points. In our third game, we played Marist, going into it we knew it would be our hardest game.
Unfortunately, we ended up losing by 2 points. We finished off strong winning our last three games by decent margins. We all had so much fun. Thanks so much, Luke Rodda our coach, Mr Crameri for coming and supporting us on the day, Mrs Zealley for all her assistance support and Mrs Coates for organising the day.

GIRLS
On the 9th of September we had our divisional basketball. We were scared because we didn’t have our full team but luckily, we had extra fill-ins. We started off vs Violet Street winning 0 to 32 then we had a couple other games winning against each team.
Then we had Marist, the hardest team in our pool. It was close all throughout the game until we were up by one, then one of their players had 2 free throws. Luckily for us, she missed both of them. We all cheered and got ready for our next team. It was tough but we still came out with the win. Then we were getting ready to vs St Josephs in the semi-final. We went in knowing the game was going to be hard. We didn’t play our best so sadly we lost by 2 points.
We would like to thank our coach Bobby Willis and Mrs. O'Connor for assisting on the day and Mrs Coates for organising the day.
Congratulations to our basketballers, who competed hard and represented the school brilliantly. Our girls fell just short in the semi-final, which was an outstanding achievement in itself, but even more impressive was their teamwork and encouragement of one another throughout the competition.
Our boys faced a tough pool and were unfortunate to suffer one narrow loss, which ultimately meant they missed out on a finals berth. Most importantly, they are a terrific group of students who continue to demonstrate our school values every time they wear the St Francis emblem.
To our wonderful coaches, Luke Rodda and Bobby Willis, thank you for your time in preparing the students and for your outstanding coaching throughout the day. We are very fortunate to have benefited from your expertise and guidance.
Finally, to our dedicated staff members, Luke Crameri and Maree O'Connor, thank you for your time, support, and encouragement of our basketballers throughout the day. Well done all!!

State Netball
On the 9th of September the girl’s netball team travelled to Melbourne for the State Championships. Our first game was tough losing by 10, but after a team huddle and a good warmup we came into the next game fierce, winning our next two games and making it into the semifinal. It was a rough game, but we came out with the win, winning by 5 goals.
After a rest and refuelling our bodies, it was time to play the grand final against Chelsea Heights PS, which was the team we had previously lost to. It was a close game the entire time, but with our cheer squad on the side cheering us on, we were even with four minutes to go. Unfortunately, they came out with the win by one goal, making us runners up. We also came home with the Spirit of Sport Award.
Thank you to Mrs Mangan for coaching us, Mrs Zealley for all of her assistance and support and Mrs Coates for organising the day and thank you to all our parents for driving us.

Congratulations to our outstanding netball team, who finished as State Championship runners-up yesterday, narrowly missing the title by just one goal. While their on-court performance was exceptional, their greatest achievement was being awarded the prestigious Spirit of Sport Award, recognising the sportsmanship, respect and character they displayed throughout the competition. These girls represented our school with pride and are a wonderful example of what it means to be both great athletes and even better people.
Thank you to Miss Mangan, who coached the girls throughout the entire SSV pathway, including the Divisional, Regional and State-level competitions. And of course, thank you to Mrs Zealley for her constant support and assistance throughout the journey. A special thank you must also go to Saturday coach Belinda Marsh, who has dedicated many hours to coaching the girls at weeknight training and on Saturdays throughout the season.
Congratulations to all involved in this incredible journey. We are immensely proud of this team's achievements and, most importantly, the outstanding way they represented our school.
PE Awards
Each assembly week, we present a tuck shop award.
The criterion for receiving these awards is very straightforward. Students demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, effort, and attitude will be the prime candidates for these awards.
