Foundation Fire Education

🔥 Foundation Fire Education 🔥
Our Foundation students recently took part in an important and engaging Fire Education program with some of our local Firefighters, learning some very important skills to help keep themselves and their families safe in the event of a fire.
The students explored how fire alarms work, why they are so important and what they should do if they hear an alarm at home. They learnt the importance of making sure they get down low and go, go, go!
We also discussed what to do in a fire emergency at home, including identifying a safe meeting place where family members can gather and be accounted for. Students learnt that having a family fire escape plan and practising it together can help everyone know what to do if an emergency occurs.
The students also had the exciting opportunity to have a go at using a real fire hose! With guidance from the fire educators, they worked together to hold and control the hose while experiencing just how powerful the water can be. It was certainly a memorable hands-on experience and a great way for students to connect their learning with the important work of firefighters.
A particularly important part of the program was learning how to call for help. Our Foundation students practised remembering the emergency number 000.
The students were fantastic participants and showed that they are already developing some very important fire safety knowledge and skills.
