Principal's Report
Dear Burwood East PS Community,
China Sister-School Visit
Burwood East Primary School is proud of its long-standing professional association with the Jiangsu–Victoria Education Centre (JVEC) and our sister-school relationship with ZhongShan Road Primary School, which commenced in 2014.
Next Thursday, 3 September, we will once again travel to China, with six students and three staff representing Burwood East Primary School.
This visit provides a wonderful opportunity for our students and staff to experience Chinese culture, visit our sister school and strengthen the friendship and educational exchange that has developed between Victoria and Jiangsu.
During the visit, our students and staff will participate in the “Discover Jiangsu” program, engaging in language and cultural immersion activities at our sister school in Zhenjiang. They will also have the opportunity to explore Beijing and Shanghai.
We are very proud of our travelling BEPS team and know they will be wonderful ambassadors for our school. We wish them a safe, enjoyable and enriching experience and look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return.
Pergola Works Completed
Ducon have now completed the pergola works around the school.
The new pergolas provide additional shaded and covered spaces for our students and staff, giving us greater flexibility during both hot and wet weather.
Ducon have also reinstated the gardens and seeded a number of areas following the works. We are now working to establish these areas before opening and look forward to seeing the gardens develop over the coming months.

3D Print a Car – Qualifiers
Congratulations to the students who represented BEPS at the 3D Printing Cars Qualifiers last week.
A huge thank you to Luke for his enthusiasm and support of the students involved in this exciting project. The students attended the qualifiers day last week, where there was some very fast action on display!
We look forward to hearing the results and celebrating the students' efforts and achievements.
School Tours – Foundation 2027
There is still availability for Foundation 2027 school tours.
If you, or somebody you know, has a child starting school next year and they have not yet had the opportunity to tour Burwood East Primary School, please contact the school office as soon as possible to arrange a tour.
We would love to welcome prospective families to our school and showcase our wonderful learning environment.
Parent / Carer Opinion Survey
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey, offered by the Department of Education, and we are seeking feedback from our families.
The survey provides an opportunity for parents and carers to share their views about areas including:
School climate
Student behaviour
Student engagement
Teaching and learning
The overall school experience
The survey is optional, however, we strongly encourage families to participate. Your feedback is valuable and helps us identify areas for improvement, professional learning and future school planning.
The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey is open until Friday, 18 September 2026.

Attendance – Every Day Matters
Every school day matters.
Regular attendance is extremely important for every student. While we understand that students will occasionally be absent due to illness, appointments or other circumstances, attending school every day wherever possible gives students the best opportunity to maintain their learning, routines and connections with their peers.
If your child is absent, please ensure you enter the reason for their absence on Compass.
We are continuing to monitor and follow up student attendance, and we strongly encourage all families to have students at school from 8:45am and ready to enter the classroom before 9:00am.
The beginning of the school day is particularly important. Students who arrive late can miss valuable learning time, explicit teaching, classroom routines and important information provided at the start of the day.
Late Arrivals
If a student arrives after 9:05am, they are required to enter through the school office, accompanied by an adult, and be signed in by our administration team.
Thank you for supporting your child to arrive at school on time and ready to learn.
