Careers Update

Welcome Back

I hope all students and families had a wonderful break. 2025 promises to be an exciting year and something we can all look forward to together. This year the Careers space will have lots of programs and events on offer, so I encourage students to participate with an open mind to explore all the possibilities available to them. Let’s continue to demonstrate adaptability, perseverance and resilience, important skills students will take into the world of work.

VCE Vocational Major (VM) – Structured Work Placements

Our Vocational Major students have commenced their work placements over the last couple of weeks. Well done to those students who have sourced, completed paperwork and contacted employers as this is a requirement of your VCE VM certificate. Students who are in the workforce completing their structured work placements are building their employability skills and working profiles within our community.

Some students still have not found a placement. Please note this is a critical component of the VCE Vocational Major (VM) program and students must find a work placement. If your child does not have a work placement, please speak with them about arranging it. Careers and the Senior School Team are here to support students.

VCE Camp

Year 11 students will be given the opportunity to visit 5 Universities/Training organisations and the VCE Careers Expo to discover possible pathways for their Career planning. The focus will be on students being able to explore and understand the different options for potential course selections moving into their final years of school. The universities will be conducting detailed presentations about courses, benefits and supports they offer. Students will also take part in campus tours and briefings about entry requirements. The VCE Careers Expo has 150 exhibitors and students can research and gain resources from the stalls. Planned activities have been scheduled for the evening so students can be social with their peers. Students will be staying in accommodation in Melbourne.

The camp promises to be a wonderful experience and was a huge success last year. Permission notices and information has been sent home to students.
