This week has been lots of get to know you activities and setting up of new routines. We couldn't be happier with the way our grade 5/6's have started, full of enthusiasm and fun. It looks set to be a terrific year!
Students have received their new netbooks this week, which we will start using in the classroom. We will be setting up classroom programs and logins and learning some cyber safety tips, before they are sent home at the end of next week.
Mr Smith has asked that all students wear rash vests or bathers that cover shoulders to the pool for Monday's swimming sports. Kids entering the racing events will be allowed to remove the rash tops for their races if they wish, but must be covered for the majority of the day. We will have sunscreen available for all kids, however we recommend applying some before they head to school.
We have had two visits already this year. The first was from the Bendigo Council, to teach us about waste management and the importance of putting our waste and recycling in the right places. Our second visitors were from the Carlton Football Club, who have been training in Bendigo this week. Our kids, as always, were a terrific audience, listening, asking great questions and modelling our value of Respect to our guest speakers!
This year students will be using Google Classroom and other software as part of the Education Departments Google GSuite. Below is some information for parents about safe and responsible usage of these products.
