Around the College
Transition Day:
Year 6 to Year 7
On Monday, 25 November Endeavour College held a Transition Day to welcome 135 Year 6 students who will form the 2025 Year 7 cohort. The day was designed to familiarise the students with the College, meet key staff and to provide an opportunity to interact with their peers.
Students were involved in a series of lessons aimed at getting to know one another, team building activities and were also given the opportunity to participate in a variety of specialist ‘secondary school taster’ lessons. The day was very successful, and it was great to see the new students making new friends and enjoying themselves.
As a Year 7 team, we look forward to working with them next year.

If I Could Turn Back Time Exhibition
It was a big day for our Year 8 historians as they showcased their learning this term in our annual ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ Exhibition. Year 8s were tasked with developing an inquiry question to link an aspect of the Year 8 History curriculum to the impact that this part of history has had on the world today. They presented their work using interactive games, models, digital presentations, posters and so much more!

Drive 2024
On Friday last week our Year 9 Language and Literacy students presented their learning in the DRIVE24 Explainaganza Exhibition. Over the past term, these students have been researching a cultural practice or way of doing things from Japan or a German-speaking country and arguing for its implementation into Australian society. The culmination of learning in the DRIVE24 unit was for students to present their learning in an engaging and interactive way to their peers, Year 7 and 8 students, as well as staff and parents. As Languages and Literacy teachers, we are very proud of the work our Year 9 students have put in throughout the past term. Students have enhanced their understanding of cultural practices in Germany and Japan as well as built skills in organisation, planning, source analysis and creating persuasive argument.
It was particularly impressive to see students interact with all visitors in a polite and enthusiastic manner when sharing their learning with guests.
We would like to thank all guests for supporting the event.

Middle Years Music Concert
On Tuesday, 3 December, the Music Department held the annual Middle Years Concert, featuring 60 students and around 250 guests. This concert took place in the Mall and featured various bands, ensembles, and soloists from Years 7 through to Year 9. Many students who performed had only started learning their instruments at the start of the year, whilst others have been playing their instruments for 2-3 years.
The night started with the Middle Years Band, who performed four short pieces.
One entertaining highlight was ‘Attack of the Slide Trombones’. They were followed by
The String Ensemble, who played Laufey’s ‘From the Start’. After their performance, the Year 7 Band performed three entertaining pieces, including the rock classic ‘I Love Rock and Roll’ which got the audience clapping and singing along.
Next was The Flute Ensemble, made up of three Year 9 students, all of whom started learning the flute three years ago at the start of their high school experience. The Year 8 Band played some great rock songs including ‘Come Together’ by the Beatles and was followed by the Year 9 Band, who ended the night with pieces such as ‘Thriller’ and the theme song from ‘How to Train Your Dragon’.
In between each performance were several talented soloists, each producing an amazing performance.
The Middle Years Concert was a fun and entertaining night, allowing the Music students to showcase their abilities.

Year 7 Discovery
2024 Expo
All Year 7 classes this year have been spending time considering what learning looks like when they follow their areas of passion, improve their skills as active learners and most importantly be curious.
Last Thursday was the inaugural Endeavour College Year 7 Discovery Expo, a showcase of what Year 7s have been choosing to investigate. Congratulations to all students who presented some quite amazing learning. Credit must also go to the Year 7 teachers who worked with students to bring this new initiative to life. This team has been led by the visionary Miss Rigby. Well done to every Year 7 student who was able to showcase their impressive learning.
For the very first time in Endeavour history, the Year 7 students wrote their own report card comment reflecting on what they learned and what they learned about themselves as learners.
Have a read of a few of them below:
My topic for Discovery was Photography! I chose this topic because it was something I had always watched my Pa do, and I wanted to try it for myself! The three most interesting things I learned were how to use a camera, how to take effective photos, and how I can use photography to tell stories. Out of active learning, passion and curiosity, the one I developed the most was passion. I showed development in this skill by how much I practiced my photo-taking and the interest I showed when learning about my topic.
Evie
My topic for Discovery was to make a recipe book and I chose this topic because my nana has many of her own cookbooks and is very good at cooking. I wanted to
make a cookbook so I could bake with her when I went to her house. The three most interesting things I learned were how expensive the bakery industry is. I also learned that bakeries have been around for thousands of years and that they were the most popular shops in the old ages. Out of active learning, passion and curiosity, the one I developed the most was passion.
Jessica
My topic for Discovery was footy and a footy podcast. I chose this topic because I love football. I was also intrigued about making a podcast for the 2024 AFL season. The three most interesting things I learned were how to use a podcast machine, the art of the left leg kick and how hard it is to learn something on your non-strong leg. Out of active learning, passion and curiosity, the one I developed the most was active learning. I believe I showed development in this skill by improving my left leg kicking little by little.
Angus
My topic for Discovery was making a game. The three most interesting things I learned were how to export 3D models into CoSpaces, how to use audio files, and how to do basic blocky coding! Out of active learning, passion and curiosity, the one I developed the most was curiosity because I didn't want a normal basic game so I decided to give it my own creative twist. I believe I showed development in this skill by enhancing my skills and doing things that I didn't know were possible at the start of Discovery.

We look forward to what these students can do to lift the bar for learning even higher next year!
