Cool Science Show

Last week, students at SHNPS were dazzled by the Mix It Up Chemistry Show, an action-packed exploration of the Material World and Living World. The show catered to all year levels, with interactive and high-energy presentations that sparked curiosity and brought the wonders of chemistry to life.

Our K-2 students were treated to a hilarious and awe-inspiring performance by Rusty the Robot and the Jolly Professor. From colourful chemical reactions to slimy polymer worms, freezing fog effects, and even an explosive grand finale, the younger audience was thrilled and amazed by this lively introduction to the science of materials.

For the Years 3-6 students, the Jolly Professor turned up the excitement with a more advanced look at chemical reactions. Highlights included jaw-dropping demonstrations of colour-changing chemicals, the creation of foamy “elephant toothpaste,” and thrilling “big bangs” that left everyone wide-eyed with amazement. Each experiment was a perfect balance of humour, education, and engagement, encouraging students to think critically about the chemical processes around them daily.

This unforgettable experience united science and fun, inspiring students of all ages to explore the exciting possibilities of chemistry. With such an explosive start to the term, we’re eagerly looking forward to more scientific adventures at SHNPS!
