Year 5 & 6
Around our level
In Literacy, students are in the process of researching, writing, and presenting speeches on a topic of personal interest. This project allows students to take ownership of their learning by selecting a subject they are passionate about, which helps to foster engagement and motivation.
In Mathematics, students have been consolidating their understanding of addition and subtraction strategies, extending their knowledge of fractions, and exploring the concepts of chance and data interpretation through a range of problem-solving activities and investigations.
We are excited for the upcoming interschool sports events and our House Athletics Day, where students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their sportsmanship and team spirit. Students are also looking forward to participating in Mother’s Day activities alongside their buddies, creating thoughtful gifts and memories.
Also this Term, the Year 6 students will take part in a Life Education session, which will support their understanding of health and wellbeing.

On ANZAC Day I spend time with my family and we remembered the soldiers who fought in the war. We made ANZAC biscuits and we had dinner together.

My Great Grandpa fought in WW1, today, we still have his medals. There are about 5 or 6. I don't know what his name was or what he really did, but he had the name Geoghegan, and I'm proud to be Geoghegan, just like the rest of my family.

ANZAC Day is a sad day for my family. A member of my family died in World War II. We also watch the Pies v Bombers footy match and spend a minute of silence remembering everyone who served.

I'm really excited for Athletic's Day! This term we have Interschool Sport. We also have the Mother's Day stall. I love athletics because we get to do running such as 200m sprint and 100m sprint and hurdles. I also don't mind long jump. I'm excited to see my brother's first Athletics Day and see how he goes.

This term as a house captain I would like to do sports clubs at lunch or recess. I am excited for Athletics Day. Last term I got first place in cross country, so I'm hoping my running skills can move on to sprinting. Last year I got into district for relay and triple jump. The year before I was in high jump despite my small size. I am so excited for specialists like Science and P.E.
