Leadership Report

START OF TERM
We hope all our families had a relaxing and enjoyable break, making the most of the beautiful autumn sunshine. It’s been wonderful to see our students return with such a positive mindset, ready to embrace the term ahead. They’ve settled back into the school routine so smoothly, and it’s clear they’re excited for the learning and opportunities Term 2 will bring.
We’re looking forward to another great term of learning, connection and community.
KELLY GROUP, OUR NEW OSHC PROVIDER…WHAT AN INCREDIBLE START!!!
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our new Out of Hours School Care (OHSC) partners, Kelly Club. The team has done a fantastic job creating a welcoming and engaging environment for our students before and after school. We’re so appreciative of the care and enthusiasm they bring each day—it’s been a great start to this partnership. If you’re considering using the program and haven’t yet had the chance to meet Isaac and Hayley, our two wonderful staff members, they’d love to introduce themselves and chat with you about what the program offers. Once you see it personally, I’m sure you will agree, it is a very inclusive and connected space they are creating.
CELEBRATING A FANTASTIC START TO OUR LEARN ABOUT LITERACY SERIES AT ORCHARD PARK PRIMARY SCHOOL
We were thrilled to welcome so many families to the first session in our Learning About Literacy series, with a spotlight on Phonics: The Code. It was a fantastic morning filled with curiosity, collaboration and learning.
Parents had the opportunity to:
✔ Experience Literacy in Action – observing our engaging, evidence-based teaching in the Learning Communities.
✔ Understand the Why – gaining insights into the research and frameworks that shape our literacy instruction.
✔ Support Your Child at Home – learning practical strategies to build strong literacy habits at home.
✔ Explore Being a Parent Helper – discovering how to get involved and support literacy learning in the classroom.
The feedback was incredibly positive, with many parents sharing how informative and insightful they found the session.
We’re excited to continue the journey at our next session on Wednesday 14th May, where we’ll be exploring ‘Reading Fluency’ – what it is, why it matters, and how you can support it at home.
🕗 All sessions run from 8:45–9:45am
📲 It’s not too late to register – simply scan the QR code to join us!
We look forward to seeing you there as we continue learning together.
ELECTION DAY SAUSAGE SIZZLE
Just a reminder we are an official election polling location tomorrow. Our Parents and Friends are running a sausage sizzle, starting from 8:30am and running until we run out of snags. We would love to see families and their neighbours come on through and grab their democracy sausage to support this fundraising event, whilst completing their vote.
MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION
We warmly invite all mothers, grandmothers, and special family guests to join us for a Mother’s Day Morning celebration in the Gymnasium on Friday, 9th May 2025 from 8:00am to 8:30am. The formal invitation has been attached to this newsletter.
This is a wonderful opportunity to share a special morning with your child/ren and celebrate the important role you play in their lives.
Enjoy a pikelet breakfast, student work displays from Visual Arts, STEM, and other specialist areas, and special gifts created by students to share with their guests.
We look forward to seeing you there!
