Year 3 - Middle Unit

Well it has definitely been a busy couple of weeks for the Year 3s! Between swimming and camp we’ve certainly had our plates full. It’s been wonderful to see the students take on both experiences with great enthusiasm and ‘can do’ attitudes.

Our week at Kyneton Aquatic Centre saw the Year 3 students practising a number of swimming skills and rescue techniques. The week culminated in several fun activities, including kayaking (and getting tipped out) in the pool! Thank you to our parent helpers who came to the pool each day, we appreciate you giving up your time to support this activity.

Adekate Camp was a great success! The amazing weather meant we were fortunate enough to experience all the facilities to the fullest. Our camp leaders, Kelsey and Matty, did a wonderful job of guiding us and helping the students to get the best out of their time together.

The Year 3s participated in a range of activities over the course of the three days, including ziplining, possum gliding, milk crate stacking, archery, hut building and damper making. The activities encouraged group participation, teamwork, moving out of comfort zones and celebrating achievements. It was fantastic to see many students gain more confidence as they worked through each of the activities. We got to see leadership and compromise in action - skills that will benefit our students now and in the future.

While students enjoyed all the activities, ziplining was clearly the favourite!

‘I really enjoyed the hut building because it gave us practise so we can build a safe shelter when we’re older.’ - Fabian

‘The zip lining was fast and scary at first but then you could jump off and go upside down! I also liked the milk crate stacking because you got to fly and work as a team.’ - Isla A

‘I enjoyed the zip lining and the damper making. The damper had toppings and was sweet and delicious.’ - Maggie

‘I really liked zip lining because we were up really high!’ - Georgie

‘I liked zip lining because you could do 360°s!’ - Charlie F

Once again, thank you to our parent helpers - Tanya, Racheal, Neil and Ben - for your invaluable support at camp. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Finally, we hope the Year 3s have created fun-filled memories that will last a lifetime. From telling ghost stories to cricket matches to sharing meals together, no doubt many friendships have been deepened and perhaps even some new ones created. Now to just catch up on that sleep…
