WPS Community Children’s Garden

Woodend Landcare Planting Day - 25th May, 9am-12pm.
Help to protect the rare Black Gums of Woodend and provide habitat for local birds and animals.
Mint – a delicious addition to any garden - just keep it in a pot or it will take over.
Spearmint and Lemon Balm had taken over our potato bed. We decided to call them “tooth paste mint” and “lemon mint“, as this is what they smelt like to us. Once out of the ground, we potted these up to take home.
If your kids brought home pots claiming they contained mint, just keep them well watered and a little sheltered over winter, then once the weather warms up, you’ll have a mint bounty.
With the mint gone, it was time to discover what potatoes lay hidden underneath. A potato treasure hunt - always a fun activity!
