Devotion

Motherhood is a journey of love, sacrifice, and unwavering strength. Whether biological, adoptive, foster, or spiritual, mothers shape lives in profound ways. As Proverbs 31:25 says, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate the incredible women who shape our lives. But beyond the hugs, bedtime stories, and packed lunches, there’s an unseen world of responsibilities that mothers carry every day—the mental load of motherhood.

Mothers are often the planners, organisers, and problem-solvers of the family. They remember school events, schedule doctor’s appointments, manage household budgets, and ensure everyone has what they need—often without being asked. This invisible labour is exhausting, yet it’s rarely acknowledged.

Mothers do so much more than what meets the eye:

  • Emotional Support: They are often the first to comfort, encourage, and uplift their children.

  • Household Management: From meal planning to laundry, mothers keep the home running smoothly.

  • Crisis Management: Whether it’s a forgotten homework assignment or a last-minute costume for school, mums always find a way.

  • Social Coordination: They remember birthdays, send thank-you notes, and keep family connections strong (including the Mother in Laws 😉)

  • Mental Checklist Keepers: They anticipate needs before they arise—packing snacks, checking the weather, and ensuring everyone is prepared.

This Mother’s Day, let’s go beyond the usual celebrations and truly acknowledge the unseen work mothers do. A simple “thank you” for the mental load they carry can mean the world.

To all the mothers, caregivers, and guiding figures—thank you for your love, patience, and unwavering support. Today, we celebrate you! We also acknowledge, celebrate and cherish the single parents, the mothers we have lost and our fur parents on this day.

"Dear Lord, today we lift up all mothers and caregivers. May they feel Your love and strength in their daily lives. Bless them with patience, wisdom, and joy. Let them know they are deeply appreciated and cherished. Amen.
