Year 1/2 Incursion

On Monday 5th May the Year Ones went to the Hall and then talked about non-living and living stuff. And then we went to our tables. I was in the first table and we rotated tables. In the end we got to smell the yeast it smelled like dough! Then we crossed the road and had to eat our lunch after lunch play.

On Monday the Grade 1s did an incursion in the hall. We learnt about “Living Things”.

First Ken did an experiment with us. Then we did different things to learn about living things. Finally we learnt about why worms hide.

I felt astonished!

On Monday the fifth of May we had an incursion. We learnt about living things and non living things. First, Ken mixed the yeast, warm water and sugar and then we waited for the air to blow up the balloon. Next, we sorted the living and non living things. I had so much fun doing science experiments.

What was your favourite activity today?

My favourite activity was the microscope because it was fun seeing my hand close up.

What did you learn today?

What I learned from today is that living things can 'respire'. Respire means to breathe.

What would you like to learn more about?

What I would like to find out more about is fossils. I think they are very interesting.

Why is science important?

Science is important because you will get smarter when you study it.

The Year 2 incursion was lots of fun. I really liked making grass seeds and can't wait to watch them grow! I also really liked looking at my hand and worms through the microscope!

My favourite activity at our Mad About Science incursion was when we saw things in a microscope. We looked at the germs on our fingers. I learnt that yeast is alive because it can breathe but it can only breathe slowly. Science is important because without it you won’t know about the world.
