Welcome to Term 2, Week 4!

This week brings a mix of reflection on recent successes and anticipation for exciting events ahead.

Firstly, I want to extend a sincere thank you to our parent community for your understanding and support of our recent Pupil Free Day. We recognise that holding this day during term time was a shift from our usual practice, and your cooperation was invaluable. This timing was crucial as it allowed our staff to engage in vital professional learning with subject matter experts. We were fortunate to welcome Denise McHugh from NESA, along with Kerrie Priddis and Alicia Pringle from Armidale Catholic Schools, who guided us in deep discussions and collaborative work on assessment practices across K-12. Our focus included consistent judgment, effective grade allocation, and even exploring the implications of AI in assessment. This important work will continue throughout Term 2 as we refine our practices, particularly in preparation for the introduction of Stage 6 next year.

On a very positive note, our Open Day for 2026 was a success! It was a genuine pleasure to welcome so many new families to Holy Trinity School and to share the unique opportunities our community offers. We are now accepting enrolment applications, particularly for Kindergarten, Year 7, and Year 11 for 2026. I will be commencing meetings with prospective families before the end of this term. If you have a child ready for these key entry points, please contact our school office to obtain an enrolment form or visit our new website at https://www.holytrinity.nsw.edu.au. Please help us spread the word to friends and family who may be considering Holy Trinity for their children!

Adding to the excitement for the future, we received final confirmation from NESA last week that we are officially approved to commence Stage 6 in 2026! I am greatly looking forward to our Year 11 and 12 Subject Selection Evening next Tuesday. Our Year 10 students have already benefited from informative sessions led by Regina Menz, Director of Schools, as well as staff and students from O’Connor College in Armidale. Our own secondary staff have also provided valuable insights into the diverse range of courses we will be offering at HTS. It is truly exciting to see this significant step forward for our school.

This week, I have the privilege of attending the Australian Catholic School Principals Association conference for further professional development. I am eager to learn from educational leaders across the country, and I am hopeful that the insights gained will further enrich our school community. Please be assured that while I am away, I remain contactable via email.

Looking ahead to next week, we eagerly anticipate Catholic Schools Week! The schedule of events was detailed in yesterday’s “What’s on this Week at HTS.” This annual celebration is always a highlight, and I am particularly looking forward to our Family Picnic next Tuesday at 12:00 pm. Please join us on the front lawn with your picnic rugs or chairs to enjoy lunch with your children and their friends. Remember to bring your own picnic food and drinks. I am very much looking forward to seeing you there!

Finally, I encourage you to take the time to read the full newsletter, as there has been a great deal happening across all areas of our school.
