100 Days of Foundation

On Friday 26th of July, Foundation students celebrated 100 Days of School! The theme for the day was ‘100 Days Brighter’ and students dressed for the occasion! They decorated their classrooms, made special crowns and spent the afternoon at a Glow Party! Spiderman and Supergirl made a special appearance and students loved dancing with the superheroes, playing with bubbles and participating in magic tricks. After lunch time, Level 5 buddies joined them for karaoke before Assembly. Foundation students were very late to Assembly but made up for it with their enthusiastic entrance. Their dance moves down the aisle of Assembly were amazing!

Well done to our Foundation students on 100 days of learning, fun and friendship. Your teachers, peers and families are so very proud of you and we cannot wait to see what the next 100+ days has in store for you!!

School Production rehearsals

The Camelot Rise Primary School production rehearsals are ramping up and the students are working on learning their lines, songs and dances.

Production Program Competition

Last term we ran a competition to design the cover for our upcoming Whole School Production. The design needed to incorporate some aspects of what our Production is about.

Thank you to all students who submitted an entry. We had an amazing response to the competition and the standard of artwork was incredible. Mr. Stillman, Ms. Hong, and Mrs. Newstead shortlisted the entries, then the Visual Arts and Performing Arts Captains cast their votes. It was a difficult choice as the drawings were so amazing.

We are proud to announce the following winners:

Emma F 6E – her design will be the front cover and the advertising board at the front of the school.

Daniel Y 6E – his design will be the back cover.

Andrew T 5YT & Isla S 6E – their designs will be on the inside covers.

These students will also receive complimentary production tickets.

We will also use parts of the designs submitted by the following students throughout the program.  These students received a small prize.

Pareesa R 6J, Raghav J 5B, Cynthia S 6E, Helena H 6J, Olivia C 4W, Iris C 6J, Keane C 5B, Henry A FN

Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge

We have 41 days left before the Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge finishes on September 6th. Congratulations to the 35 students who have read AND logged their books to complete the challenge!

The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books.

  • Children from Foundation are challenged to read 30 books (20 of which are listed on the official challenge book list). Students will read books with their classroom teacher at school.
  • Children from Year 1 and 2 are challenged to read 30 books (20 of which are listed on the official challenge book list). They can read the books themselves or have them read to them.
  • Children from Year 3,4,5 and 6 are challenged to read 15 books (10 of which are listed on the official challenge book list).

Year 1 to 6 students are required to log in to PRC and record the books they have read before 6th September. If you do not remember your login and password, please speak to your classroom teacher.

Imagine reading thirty minutes a day, for 40 days (plus one day to log all your books) …. just imagine the number of books you will enjoy!

Junior School Council

Semester 2 Junior School members had their first meeting last week. There was great discussion on ideas for events and school improvements. These students will receive their badges at assembly on Friday August 9th.

Jump Rope for Heart

Camelot Rise Primary School will participate in the Jump Rope for Heart program this year –a fantastic fundraiser and physical activity program coordinated by the Heart Foundation.

By participating in Jump Rope for Heart this term, our students will raise funds for the Heart Foundation as well as build their skipping skills, stamina, and fitness. We have skipping ropes available on the school grounds and encourage everyone to help raise funds for lifesaving research and support programs.

Over the coming weeks (finishing on 9/8/24) your child will learn new skills, increase their physical activity, and learn about heart health during their allocated P.E. time. The program will end with a school-wide ‘Jump Off Day’ where your child will get to showcase their new skipping skills to their friends. More information to follow regarding a date this term.

Your child will have received a brochure containing information regarding registration and how to sign up. Please access the QR code.

When you register your child online, you’ll get access to additional skipping resources to help give your child a great reason to get away from the screens and get outdoors. Register and create your secure webpage at jumprope.org.au/parents

'Ginger the Craziest Cat in the World' book

Exciting news regarding our school’s self-published picture story book ‘Ginger the Craziest Cat in the World’…. We are thrilled to announce that we now have hardcover copies available for purchase within our school community.

For those who may not be familiar with our project: This delightful book is a collaborative effort involving two former CRPS students: Emma Z, who wrote this back in 2018 whilst in Grade 3, and Dawn L, a talented Grade 6 artist, who last year contributed her exquisite illustrations to bring the story to life. We are immensely proud of this wonderful achievement!

If you are interested in acquiring your own copy of the book, it is priced at $30 and can be obtained from the School Office. A copy is currently on display at the Office counter for those who would like to preview it before making a purchase.

Olympic Day

To celebrate the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris students participated in a whole school day of activities on Thursday 25th July. Students were allocated a colour to symbolise one of the 5 Olympic rings. They had a great time rotating between Art, French and sporting activities. Thank you to Mr Stillman and the specialist team for organising the day.

Thank you also to parents who offered their time to help out with the Olympics Day lunch. Students enjoyed a special treat from Bakers Delight.

District Soccer Gala Day

Congratulations to the 11 students who took part in last Friday’s Gardiners District Soccer Gala Day at the Eastern Lions Soccer Club. It was wonderful to see your high level of participation and enthusiasm while competing against other schools on the day.
