Holy Cross Happenings
Confirmation
Congratulations to the Confirmation Candidates of Holy Cross PS! In preparation for receiving the Sacrament, children were involved in lessons centred around the scripture of Pentecost, the Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit and Saints/Spirit Filled people. Families were invited to share an evening of learning about Confirmation and the children attended a Reflection Day, where they deepened their understanding of the Sacrament. Last Sunday, the candidates were Confirmed by Bishop Terry at St Anne's Church, Sunbury. It was great to see families celebrating this wonderful occasion with us.

Celebrating 100 Days of Prep!
Today we marked a special milestone – 100 days of Prep! The children embraced the occasion by dressing up as if they were 100 years old. We saw many cardigans, glasses, and walking sticks, transforming the youngest members of our school into senior citizens. Some were almost unrecognisable! There was also a lot of laughter and smiles as everyone celebrated together.
The first 100 days of Prep is an important learning period, and we are incredibly proud of the children’s progress so far. It was wonderful to celebrate this milestone with their friends and Grade 6 buddies. Their buddies reminisced about meeting on the first day of school and are amazed at how far their Prep friends have come.
The Prep room resembled a nursing home as the children (our little "old people") gathered for morning tea and sounded a lot like the grannies on Bluey, with the children chatting and sharing cups of hot chocolate.
A special thank you to Agnes and Alice for guiding our Prep children through their first 100 days of school. We are excited for all the wonderful experiences yet to come!
A big thank you also to Wendy for taking beautiful photo
Pancake Day
Thank you to our wonderful PFA volunteers for making our school smell delicious yesterday! The children not only enjoyed the warm pancakes but also the beautiful toppings.
Work Experience
We were delighted to welcome back Noah Ali, a past student, for his work placement with us this week. Work experience offers invaluable insight into the skills required for various jobs and aims to inspire students to consider their future careers.
Noah, now a Year 10 student at Salesian College, spent most of his week with the Year 6 classes. He shared his expertise, particularly in IT, not only with the staff but also with our Year 6 leaders. Together with our House Captains they prepared Olympic facts and questions for the newsletter. Noah also assisted in specialist classes and designed CANVA posters for our Prep 100 Days celebration.
Thank you, Noah. We hope you enjoyed your time back at Holy Cross.
Interschool Netball
On Thursday the 25th of July the Year 6 girls in the netball team went to MRNA courts to play division netball. We played 3 games in total. Firstly we played against Eynesbury, although we lost this game we did our best in the cold and rain.
Secondly, we played Saint Dominic's, Melton. In this game we had a great win. All the girls played with amazing teamwork and sportsmanship.
Our last game was playing against Bacchus Marsh. If we had won against them, we would have had a chance to go to the next round. If we had won against them, us going to the next round would just rely on the percentages. Unfortunately we lost this game but we tried our hardest and we were okay with the loss because we had a great team of supporters (aka the Yr 3s).
Overall the day was great and we had lots of fun. We were all very glad that had we had the opportunity to represent Holy Cross. Also a big thank you to Tracey for coaching us and all the parents for scoring and encouraging us.
Basketball
On Friday the 26 of July the Boys and girls basketball teams went to represent Holy Cross in District Basketball and the A team lost three games and drew 1 and the B team won one game. It was a great day and we all had fun and a massive thank you to Kate, Lucy and Casey for their putting time and effort into making our day awesome.

We lost to Braemar by 10 but had great teamwork. Thanks to Monique for coaching the girls.

Social Justice visits the Foodbank
On Wednesday the Social Justice leaders had a visit to Gisborne Foodbank.
The Foodbank helps people in Gisborne who are in need. We learnt about where they get donations from and how we can also help. The Foodbank is located in Heritage Way in Gisborne.
Foodbank helps people in need by getting donated food from multiple places in Gisborne and other towns. Wally showed us around the Foodbank and we talked about ways that Holy Cross could help in the future.
