Aoife's Message

Good morning Holy Cross families,

What an incredible amount of change and development our community will experience as a result of the announcement earlier this week of a 2.3 million dollar grant for Holy Cross. Ensuring that our school was top of the consideration list has taken a wealth of work behind the scenes. I am very appreciative of the support of staff last year as I was able to pour much time and energy into the application process while the team ensured that everything travelled along smoothly throughout the school. The Infrastructure team from MACS were also a valuable source of knowledge and guidance. We are excited about the possibilities for our community and look forward to getting work underway later this year. All works must be completed within a one year time frame so it is certainly not a project that will drag on over time - bring it on!

Sacrament of Confirmation

Congratulations to the Year 6 children who were blessed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit by Bishop Terry Curtin last Sunday. The children were well prepared for the celebration by their families and teachers over the last months. Thank you to our choir group and their parents for supporting our celebration. Their voices were magnificent and certainly added to the beautiful atmosphere in the Church. We express our appreciation to Lisa Peake, Faith Leader at Holy Cross for her work in organising and planning this special Liturgy.

Prep 2025

For our current families with a child joining us next year, we can't wait to chat with them at our Prep interviews in August, thank you to families who have already booked a time to chat! We still have some spaces available for next year if you have families or friends who are interested.

Professional Development

This week it was our turn to support teachers from another school who are looking to refine their practice. The P - Yr 2 team from Mother of Teresa in Craigieburn came to learn and ask questions of our staff in relation to discovery. Our team are continuously developing their practice in this area so it was very affirming to be able to share this knowledge with others. Zoe, our Literacy Leader, and I are returning to our uni days and commencing a microcredential course focused on Phonics: Theory, Research, Differentiated Instruction and Assessment. We look forward to learning together and to sharing this learning with our team.

Green & Gold Pancake Day

Sincere thanks to our PFA who cooked up a storm yesterday for our Green & Gold pancake day. The children thoroughly enjoyed the treats and were very happy indeed to share a pancake in the winter sunshine.

Prep 100 days

It's hard to believe that our Preppies have been with us for an entire 100 days. We are very proud of them and look forward to the next 100 days of learning and connection.

Have a lovely weekend,

Aoife

All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
