NAIDOC Week Celebrations 2024

As a school we annually celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s history, achievements and learn about their rich culture in Term 3.

We are well and truly engaged in NAIDOC Week celebrations activities across all year levels.  This year’s NAIDOC Week theme celebrates the spirit of our communities and invites all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced.

On Thursday 18th July, we created a whole school Human Aboriginal Flag. Students wore a coloured top which formed part of a section of the Aboriginal Flag. There was a real buzz of excitement as the photos were being taken!

There have been special buddy activities planned which are displayed around the school, especially at the bottom of Building B. We welcome back First Nations artist Emily Webbers, who ran workshops for our students from Prep to Grade 6. Our students explored different aspects of Indigenous people’s history, culture and achievements as part of their learning for the week and beyond.

Our students were engaged in many learning experiences across the curriculum to gain a better understanding of First Nation people’s history, culture and achievements.

At our staff meeting in the first week, we created some beautiful artwork that has been displayed alongside our students' artwork.
