Father's Day Celebrations

We will be celebrating the important role fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers and uncles have in our lives on Friday 30th August, with our annual Father's Day Breakfast. Please keep an eye out for the Compass notification regarding catering.

Feast of Mary of the Cross MacKillop

Today, Thursday 8th August, students celebrated the Feast of St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop. The Primary children attended a Mass at Mary Help of Christians Church, whilst the Infants children participated in class Liturgies.

Mary MacKillop became known as St. Mary of the Cross when Pope Benedict XVI canonised her in 2010. She was a Catholic nun who, together with Father Julian Tenison Woods, founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart. St Mary of the Cross and Fr Woods opened their first school in Penola, South Australia. From there, they founded other schools for children who were poor, especially in country areas. They taught about God’s love and being faithful to the Gospels.

Years 2 & 5 Family Mass

Our next Family Mass is on Sunday 18th August at 9.00am. Please come along to gather as a School and Parish community. The students from Years 2 & 5 will be involved in the Mass as readers, servers, the offertory procession and by serving morning tea after the Mass. Families from Years 2 & 5 are asked to bring a plate of food to share.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Confirmation Dates

Our Information Session and Enrolment will be held on Tuesday 20th August at 5.30pm and will be held in Mary Help of Christians Church. Year 6 students who have been baptised and completed the sacraments of Confession and First Eucharist are able to be Confirmed. The date for Confirmation is Sunday 22nd September at 9.00am.

NSW Premier's Reading Challenge - Closes 23rd August

A reminder that there is just over 2 weeks of the Premiers Reading Challenge left. We have many students that have started the challenge and some only need to read a few more books to complete. If your Primary child is participating in the PRC and has not read all 20 books, please encourage them to visit the Library in their break time to see Mrs Michell who will organise some quick reads and support them with logging their books to get them across the line.

Infants students have been automatically signed up for the challenge and will complete the challenge during their library sessions and class times at school.

Students are encouraged to log onto the PRC website from home, or access the PRC site using the iPads in the Library in their break time. Students should now start to log books they have read using this link https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/studentExperience.html#/ If you have any problems with logging books or access please reach out. cmichell@arm.catholic.edu.au

PLEASE NOTE!! Any books on the list that your child has read (or you have read to your child for K - 2) over the summer holidays can be counted for this year’s challenge.
