Student Wellbeing

With Krissy Martin, Reginald Zafra, Valentina  Zevallos and Emma Meissner

At Brookside College, we are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of all our students through a variety of measures. Along with our School Wide Positive Behaviour Acknowledgement Program and our Respectful Relationships Program, we have a dedicated Wellbeing Team, which includes a Mental Health Practitioner, a Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader, and school counsellors. One of the tools we use to support our students is the Children's Wellbeing Continuum.

The Continuum, developed by the Centre for Community Child Health, provides a snapshot of a child’s social-emotional wellbeing at a specific point in time, helping us identify children who may need extra support. It focuses on various aspects of wellbeing, including emotions, behaviour, social relationships, sleep, energy, and learning routines. This approach reduces the stigma around mental health and encourages parents to seek help if they notice their child is struggling.

If you have any concerns or questions about your child's wellbeing, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or our Wellbeing Team. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way.
