It was with great excitement that the Year 5 students gathered on Thursday afternoon to finalise their preparation for leadership speeches. Students engaged in learning and discussion about how to present a speech. Importantly the criteria for leadership speeches was discussed and students collaboratively developed the voting criteria.
The speech guidelines included:

School values: Describe the ways you have demonstrated our school faith based values
(ie. caring for others, friendliness, respect, valuing difference, including others and showing responsibility) linked to Learning Powers: We Persevere, Creative, Collaborative, Responsible, Reflective
Leadership qualities: What qualities of a good leader do you possess?
Give examples of times when you have demonstrated the following leadership qualities:
Collaboration, Initiative, Team skills, Commitment, Confidence, Organisation, Public speaking
Actions: Describe the actions you have already undertaken in your years at St John’s and what ideas you may have for future actions.
