Students participating in MABIAD will also have the wonderful opportunity to attend a writing workshop this Thursday 14th November with Shivaun Plozza. Shivaun is the author of several novels, including Meet Me at the Moon Tree, Tin Man, and Frankie, all of which are available in our school library.

Just a reminder that the library is currently located in classroom (S3) while VCE Exams take place. We are open as usual (from 8:15am until 4:30pm (4pm on Fridays)). We will have a small selection of books, magazines, and games available for students to borrow/use. We are also opening the classroom next door (S2) for students to use at recess and lunchtimes. Dayuse Laptops are also available, however there is no printer – for any printing or copying needs, students need to use the colour printer located in the T-Wing (outside T12 and T13).

Book of the Week

  Nugly

by M. C. Ross

There is an important message in Nugly: you can’t run away from who you are.

Nugget begins life as a cute, pampered puppy but runs away when he thinks he’s going to be put up for adoption. He attempts to make a new home for himself at the zoo and befriends a lonely porcupine, until an incident involving some lions ensures he will never be cute again. Nugget becomes Nugly

Nugly goes through several different owners, touching the lives of everyone he meets, but fearing rejection each time. He must learn to accept who he is inside – not to rely on his looks, but what comes from within – to find true happiness.

Nugly is a feel-good story from start to finish, with some heart-tugging moments that makes it every memorable and a true pleasure to read. I loved this book, even though I am definitely a cat-person not a dog-person, so I can safely recommend this to all animal-lovers!
