Library News

Hello Chatswood Community,

As the end of the school year is approaching, we happily look back on all the amazing learning, reading, and special events that have taken place in our school library this year. From exciting book fairs and author visits to reading challenges and themed story time sessions, we’ve seen our students engage with literature in lots of inspiring ways. These experiences not only promote a love for reading but also foster a sense of community and creativity among our young learners.

As we begin to prepare for the end of our school year, we want to remind everyone about returning library books. If you’ve found an overdue notice in your child’s school bag, please know that we are working to ensure all students have access to our wonderful resources. If you believe you’ve already returned the books, please make a note on the overdue notice and have your child return it to Mr. Matthews in the library.

If you receive a repeated notice, please don’t stress. It is possible the books were incorrectly returned and are awaiting being checked back into our system. This can happen, and we will work to locate the book. If you suspect the book may have been accidentally checked out under your child’s name, please note that on the overdue notice as well, and our library team will investigate.

We also ask for your help in ensuring that returned books are indeed from Chatswood Public School. We’ve had instances where books from Lane Cove Library or Willoughby Library have b returned to us. While this isn’t a major issue, it does take time for our library team to return those books to their respective libraries. When helping your children prepare their books for return, please check for the Chatswood Public School barcode, which is typically located on the top right corner of the front cover. For older books, the barcode can be found on the first page in the same position.

As we look ahead toward the rest of Term 4 and the school holidays, we encourage caregivers to continue spending time reading with their children. Regular reading not only fosters a love of books but also supports language development, enhances comprehension skills, and encourages critical thinking. Sharing stories can spark imagination and create wonderful bonding moments, making reading a fun and enriching activity for the whole family.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain our beautiful library and care for our wonderful collection of books.

Have a great week!
