Choirs and Ensembles in Action
This week, the Concert Band and chamber String Ensemble held a joint rehearsal in the School Hall and delighted many students as they arrived to school. Concert Band have been working on a medley of pieces, including The Great Escape by Elmer Bernstein (arranged by J Vinson). The Chamber String Ensemble rehearsed one of their current pieces, Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel (arranged by Hale, Parker, Sanders and Waterman), in front of a live audience for the first time. The two ensembles collaborated on a favourite medley, ABBA on Broadway.
Ensemble Updates
- Concert Band: Concert Band will rehearse on Tuesday morning, 5 November. (No Monday rehearsals at this time.)
- Guitar Ensemble: No rehearsal for Guitar Ensemble on Monday 4 November. We will reconvene on Monday 11 November, in our new space on Main Campus: B Block Art Room.
- Junior and Advanced Chinese Music Ensembles: No rehearsals for the coming week, whilst Mrs Ellingworth is away. We plan to resume in Week 5, 13/14 November.
- Training Band: No rehearsal this week — we are working on a relieving director and will send an update via email as soon as possible.

Sydney North Public Schools Band Program
Applications for the 2025 Sydney North Public Schools Band Program are now open.
The Sydney North Public Schools Band Program is run through the Department of Education - The Arts Unit, and provides extension opportunities for talented musicians from public schools in Year 4 to Year 12. Membership is considered an addition to a student's participation in their school band program. It is an expectation that all students who are part of the Sydney North Public Schools Band Program remain a committed member of any music ensemble programs currently operating at their school.

Applications close on Friday 15 November 2024.
After completing the application form, students wishing to join the Sydney North Public Schools Band Program in 2025 will be invited to attend an audition on Saturday 23 November 2024 at Belrose Public School. Audition times will be emailed to parents and caregivers a week before the audition date.
Please read the audition requirements for each ensemble (links below) and choose the material that best suits your musical ability.
