What an amazing two weeks we’ve had! We grew our independence and tried new activities at camp, enjoyed a wonderful Market Day, shared our writing skills at our open morning, and made food in our Clubs time.
The 3/4s had a wonderful time at Oasis Camp in Mount Evelyn. We arrived and, after meeting the lovely staff, students took part in a scavenger hunt which was followed by beginning some of our activities. We completed our first day at camp by singing songs and roasting marshmallows around a campfire. Day 2 started with a yummy breakfast of muffins, eggs, hashbrowns and cereal, which gave us plenty of energy to take part in all the exciting activities of crate climbing, archery, the giant swing, the flying fox, low ropes and candle making. It was fantastic to see all students push themselves out of their comfort zones and give the activities a go. We filled our tummies in the evening with a delicious dinner of beef brisket sliders, chips and ice-cream, and then relaxed with a movie after our busy day. Day 3 saw us packing up our cabins, eating yummy pancakes and heading out for a walk to Lilydale Lake, where we had a picnic lunch and a fun play before heading back to school on the bus. All in all, we had an awesome time!!
Last Saturday, our school community came together for our Market Day. We had beautiful weather and there was plenty of food, games and crafts to spend some gold coins on. A huge thank you to all the families who contributed to planning, donated items and helped out on the day!
We’ve been enjoying the introduction of our Clubs sessions, where students have had the choice to do a number of activities including zentangle drawing, making shrinky dinks and, this week, students even had the opportunity to decorate biscuits or make pizza muffins. Everyone is enjoying this addition to our week.
On Thursday this week we invited parents and special friends to see a Writing lesson in our classrooms. It was lovely to have visitors come in and see us make a start on revising and editing our recount writing. Thank you to all those who were able to attend.
Finally, we wanted to share how we have been incorporating traditional Indigenous games into our Level Sports. This has allowed students to learn and experience aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in a fun and accessible way. So far we have played borna jokee and thapumpan.
