Diwali by Prabhnoor 5B
On Monday’s assembly, we celebrated Diwali. Grade 6 students and I presented a PowerPoint to the school, and we danced a traditional dance. Diwali, also known as the Festival of Light, is an important event in Hinduism and Sikhism. It shows that good is greater than evil and light is stronger than darkness.
Why is it celebrated?
In Hinduism, Diwali is celebrated because Ram ji came back from Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and defeated the evil demon Ravana. In Sikhism, the sixth god, Guru Hargobind Sahib ji, rescued 52 kings from Gwalior Fort and went to the Golden Temple, Amritsar, where they celebrated the bravery and kindness of Guru Hargobind Singh ji.
