Reading: Students will explore and look at a range of different reading comprehension strategies to help them understand what they are reading.

Writing: Classes are in the middle of a persuasive block of writing. Students will be given the opportunity to write their own persuasive pieces giving reasons and evidence.

Maths: Students will explore Place Value System, having opportunities to expand on their knowledge of rounding, expanding and breaking down numbers.

Inquiry: Students are SUPER excited about our inquiry sessions, they are about to start building their sustainable class town. Year 2 -Day Camp is coming!

Please speak to your child's classroom teacher if you have any questions.

Save the date: Monday the 16th of December 2024.

Here is a little bit of an insight about what the day is about.

Golden Valley's Adventure Camp is located on the Mornington Peninsula, in Flinders. Approximately a 1 hour drive from Hillsmeade PS. Our Year 2 students will experience a day of Camp, without the overnight aspect.

Students will participate in a range of outdoor activities, providing challenges & working on teamwork strategies. These may include Flying Fox, Ropes Course, Team Challenges & Sports. Students leave feeling encouraged, empowered and ready to face challenges with a greater confidence and belief in who they are!

News and Reminders:

Curriculum Day: Wednesday 27th of November (Students - No School)

Hats: Hats are now compulsory. Please make sure your child has a hat with their name clearly written on it each day.

Library books and borrowing: Each week or fortnight, classes visit the library and encourage our students to borrow a book. At the moment, we have most students borrowing, which is great to see!

Home Reading: We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.
