What is a Conveyancer?

A Conveyancer helps clients with property and business transfers. They ensure that the process of buying or selling property is done correctly and legally. Conveyancers prepare and advise on contracts, conduct title searches, handle mortgage documents, and manage financial and legal aspects of property transactions. 

What skills and strengths are needed?

A thorough understanding of property laws and financial regulations is essential. Conveyancers must have strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. They need to be good communicators to explain complex legal information to clients.

What are the pathways?You typically need an Advanced diploma in conveyancing combined with practical experience. University is also a pathway as in some states and territories, only solicitors can perform conveyancing work.

UNE Early Entry ProgramThe UNE direct Early Entry program recognises that an ATAR is not the only measure of future success at university, so it’s open to all Year 12 applicants, whether or not you’re expecting to receive an ATAR.Early Entry relies on your school’s assessment of your attributes and abilities: your ability to work and learn independently, and your overall potential for academic success. Based on your school's recommendation, UNE will guarantee you an offer to start in 2025.Apply directly to get your offer before the release of Year 12 results, giving you the certainty that no matter what happens, you have a place at UNE.

How Does Early Entry Work?

  • Submit a quick, free, direct online application. A UAC/QTAC application is not required.
    Choose up to three course preferences.
  • Combined with your school's recommendation, UNE determines your best offer - no ATAR required.
  • UNE guarantees you an offer. If not for one of your preferences, for an alternative course.
  • As part of your Early Entry offer, you will have a place saved in UNE Residential College accommodation.
  • In addition, you may also submit an UAC/QTAC application to increase your chances of receiving an offer for your preferred course.

Key Dates Round 2 early entry applications close on 14 October with offer letters released on 15 November.

Feed Your Mind, Feed the World

A free agriculture experience for Year 11 & 12 students to learn how science is solving real world challenges!

About the programThe Feed Your Mind, Feed the World (FYM) camp is a three-day experience for Year 11 and 12 students interested in learning more about agricultural science and career pathways stemming from an agricultural science degree.

The camp is hosted by the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA), which is the agricultural research arm of the University of Tasmania and responsible for teaching the Bachelor's degree.

 The FYM camp is held in North West Tasmania, allowing students to observe and interact with several diverse agricultural industries and learn about the advantages of studying agricultural science in Tasmania, including a visit to our research farms.

TIA staff members supervise students during the camp, and specific degree details and information on studying at the University of Tasmania are also provided.

Camp Dates: 3–5 December 2024.

Who can apply?   Students currently in Year 11 and Year 12.

What is included in the camp?   Transport for Tasmanian students, transport to/from Hobart, Launceston, Burnie, and Devonport will be provided.

For interstate students, transport from Hobart and Launceston airport will be provided. You will need to arrange and cover the expenses for your flights and transport to and from your home airport.

Accommodation:   Students will be stay in cabins at Camp Clayton.

Meals:   All meals will be provided.

When do applications close?   Applications close at midnight on Friday, October 25, 2024.

AVCAT Scholarships

Applications are assessed on financial need: Applicants who have a greater degree of financial need for assistance with educational and living costs will have a higher chance of being recommended for a scholarship.

Academic potential: An assessment is made about the ability of the applicant to complete the nominated course of study and is dependent on recent academic results and an academic referee or employer report.

Deservedness: Deservedness is based how the veteran’s service in the Australian Defence Force has impacted the family’s health and wellbeing. Applicants will need to detail the health conditions of the veterans.

Applications open 18 August and close on 31 October 2024.

Tertiary scholarships for children and grandchildren of Australian ex-serving veterans of $4000-$6000 per year, for up to three years.

Eligibility 

Australian residency or citizenship.

  • Child or grandchild of an Australian ex serving veteran.
  • Full-time tertiary student in 2025. enrolled in a min. 1 year course at university, TAFE, or an RTO.
  • In receipt of of or eligible to receive. Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY, or VCES or MRCAETS in 2025.

The fun newsIn the Girls Day Out in STEM Imagineering Adventure, you’ll visit each world in the Girls Day Out in STEM metaverse and explore all of the activities. Then? Share your work to collect fun stamps for your Girls Day Out in STEM virtual passport.

Did we mention there are prizes? After you take part in each world of the Imagineer-verse and collect all of the individual world stamps, you can go in the draw to win some amazing prizes. You could win an iPad thanks to Telstra or a pair of epic Ray Ban XR glasses thanks to Meta.

Get involved in these extra-curricular challenges and competitions to pursue your passions, build your skills, and develop your portfolio. All are free (unless otherwise stated), and many offer amazing prizes!

Think Science    Perform an investigation and document your process and findings in a video. Over $10,000 in prizes are on offer. Students must be registered by a teacher.

  • Open to: Students in Grade 3 - Year 10.
  • Dates: now - 16th August 2024.

UNSW Bragg Student Prize    In an 800-word essay, describe some great community interaction with conservation and biodiversity.

  • Open to: Year 7 - 10 students.
  • Dates: now - 23rd August 2024.

National History Challenge     Be a historian, researching world history, examining Australia’s past, investigating your community or exploring your own roots!

  • Open to: Everyone over 12 years old.
  • Dates: now - 23rd August 2024.

Songwriting Competition   Submit a demo of an original song that your or your group has written along with written lyrics. Prizes valued at over $2,500.

  • Open to: ACT, NSW, VIC, & QLD Year 9 12 students.
  • Dates: now - 31st August 2024.

Monologue Competition   Submit a creative and entertaining delivery of a monologue to win a showreel recording and theatre tickets! 

  • Open to: NSW, VIC, & QLD Year 9-12 students.

ABC Heywire Competition    Heywire is a storytelling competition for entries must be   true and can be in any format.

  • Open to: people aged 16-22 in regional, rural and remote Australia.
  • Dates: now - 1st September 2024.

SF3 Kids Awards    For films made by filmmakers 18 years and under up to a max of 10 mins. Entry cost: Standard $15.36 or Gold Members $12.29.

  • Open to: All under 18s at the time of filming.
  • Dates: now - 1st September 2024.

Enterprising Girl of the Year Competition Complete all 10 eLearning modules and you could be at Parliament House on 9 October pitching your idea to innovative leaders, plus more cool prizes!
