ANNOUNCING OUR SENIOR BAND: The Reverence
Our newly constructed Mt A Senior Band performed for the very first time at Cultural Fest! Below is an excerpt from their introduction at today’s performance:
We are The Reverence! We are a pop rock band of 8 girls from senior years. We love to perform and jam out together and can’t wait to show you guys a bit on what we’ve been working on and are so excited for more opportunities to showcase our band in the future!
We also have a Junior Band who have been rehearsing together, more performance dates to come for our two fabulous bands! Thank you to Mr Webb, Mr Waldron, Ms Maya and Ms Uhr for helping our students out with their endeavour!
Tournament of Minds – State Finals
On the weekend, our STEM and Language Literature TOM teams participated in the State Finals. They were treated to a keynote address from Dr Peter Ellerton who emphasised the importance of critical and creative thinking, leaving students with the challenge of always sharing their half-formed ideas and taking advantage of collaboration. Both teams performed extremely well, and our STEM team took out the win in their discipline, moving them onto the International Finals in November! Well done to both teams!
Model United Nations – Term 3 MUN at Mt A
We were fortunate to be joined by 8 students from Mt St Michael’s last week for our Term 3 MUN at Mt A. This term’s MUN focused on the issue of foreign debt, and we were led by the fabulous team at UN Youth Queensland to guide students on their decisions and amendments to the policy. Students spent time negotiating, discussing and presenting their ideas to the assembly. This is always an incredible example of our students who want to relate to the global world and use their autonomy to upskill themselves with the knowledge that one day, the world will be in their hands!
