Battle of the Bands

Friday's Battle of the Bands was an exciting opportunity to show off two bands each from both Melbourne Girls' College and Melbourne High School. MGC’s representatives were our 'Junior Rockband', performing 'Valerie' by Amy Winehouse, and 'The Yams', performing 'Brutal' by Olivia Rodrigo, consisting all of Year 12s,  Leanne Leong, Emily Cormack &  Sammi  Sastradipradja. Special congratulations must be given to music captain Leanne Leong who led the Yams to MGC's victory of overall best school. While the audience cheered on for many a performance, the adjudicating team consisting of MHS's music team and Indiana Lewis and I from MGC thought diligently about the criteria from which we were marking: performance, musicality, teamwork. In the end, MGC had to admit defeat to MHS’ 'The Neighbours', performing 'Sugar Song to Bitter Step' by Unison Square Garden.  Overall, this experience has been enjoyable to all involved and we looked forward to next year!
