Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
Playground Progress
We are thrilled to announce that our inclusive learning space project has moved to the next stage! The designs for the new playground and outdoor learning area have been officially approved, and we are now preparing tender documents to bring this exciting project to life.
The approved plans feature a fantastic new playground next to the portable classroom, with a synthetic turf surface, interactive play panels, and seating areas. The outdoor learning space under the shade sail will provide a perfect spot for classes to gather, while additional seating in front of the garden beds will create a welcoming, peaceful area for students to enjoy.
We are committed to keeping our school community informed and look forward to sharing updates as the project progresses. If everything goes according to plan, construction is expected to begin towards the end of Term 4. We can't wait to create a space where all students can learn, play, and thrive together!
Powering the Ecoshed
Thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts of our Parents and Friends Committee, we have raised the necessary funds to power the Ecoshed! Initially, the Ecoshed was designed for smaller, occasional use, but as our Forest School program has grown, so too have our power needs.
With regular classes now taking place in Forest School, the power requirements for the Ecoshed have changed. To ensure we find the best solution, the School Council is currently conducting a feasibility study to determine the most efficient and sustainable way to power the shed.
Once the optimal solution is identified, we will move forward with the installation as quickly as possible. Thank you to our wonderful community for your ongoing support as we work to create the best learning environment for our students!
Footy Colours Day
We are holding a special Footy Colours Day on the last day of term to support the Agresta-Saville family following the tragic passing of Justin. For a gold coin donation, students are invited to come dressed in their favourite sporting team’s colours. All funds raised will go directly to the family’s GoFundMe page to assist them during this difficult time, and this event is a great opportunity for us to come together as a community and show our support.
If you would like to contribute directly, you can find the GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/supporting-agrestasaville-family
Let’s make this a meaningful day, both in raising awareness and contributing to a cause close to our hearts.
Working Bee
We are holding a working bee on Saturday, 19th October to complete a number of maintenance tasks around the school in preparation for the summer period. This working bee is for the parents of students in Hume and Mitchell houses.
Your help will make a big difference in getting the school ready for the warmer months ahead. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you there!
Bike Safety Reminder for Families: Let's Keep Our Students Safe!
As the warmer weather continues, more students are choosing to ride their bikes to school, which is fantastic for fitness and the environment. However, we've had several reports of close calls where students have ridden out in front of cars. These incidents serve as an important reminder of the need for road safety.
We kindly ask parents and caregivers to speak with their children about the importance of being safe and alert when riding their bikes. Please remind them to:
- Always wear a helmet.
- Use designated bike paths or stay on the left side of the road.
- Stop, look, and listen before crossing any road.
- Avoid distractions like using headphones while riding.
Let’s work together to ensure our students arrive at school safely each day. Thank you for your support in keeping our community safe!
Generous Donation
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Damien and Sarah Leatch from the Mount Macedon Trading Post for their incredible generosity in covering the cost of the bus for our district cricket team. Thanks to their support, there will be no cost to our families. We truly appreciate their amazing contribution to our school community!
Seeking Policy Feedback
We are currently in the process of renewing several school policies and would like to seek feedback from the community. This survey provides an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and help shape the policies to better reflect the needs of our school community.
Families have until the end of the term to provide feedback.

Lost Property
Our lost property racks are overflowing with clothes! We kindly remind parents to pop in and check if any of their children’s belongings are there before the end of term. On Friday, before the assembly, all lost property will be displayed in the grandstand for easy access. It's a great opportunity to reclaim any lost items before they are donated. Thank you for your help in keeping our lost property under control!
2025 Class Requests Now Open
We are now accepting requests for the 2025 school year! Parents and guardians can submit requests regarding friendship groups or specific student needs to help us with class placements.
While we seriously consider all parent requests, please understand that we may not be able to grant every request. Our goal is to create balanced and supportive learning environments for all students. Also, please note that we will not be taking requests for specific teachers.
To submit a request, please email it to Andrew.bloomfield@education.vic.gov.au by the 11th of October. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to another great year of learning together!
Planning for the 2025 School Year
As we begin preparations for the 2025 school year, we need accurate student numbers to ensure we have adequate staffing and resources in place. If your child is planning to leave Macedon Primary School at the end of 2024, please notify the school office as soon as possible.
Your cooperation will help us create the best possible learning environment for all students. We appreciate your support as we plan for another successful year at Macedon Primary School!
Sunsmart
We would like to remind everyone that our SunSmart period has officially started. As part of our commitment to keeping our students safe from harmful UV exposure, all students are now required to wear a sun-protective hat when they are outdoors.
Please be reminded that Friday is the end of term 3, assembly will take place at 2:00pm in the JCB and students will be dismissed at 2:30pm. OSHC will commence from 2:30pm. Have a wonderful term break!
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
