Deb Randles

THANKS STEVE for making such an amazing and inclusive nesting area for our three new Silky bantams. The boxes are lower now for their little legs and so are the perches. We also have a foraging bed, planted with fodder for chickens, inside a raised bed covered in wire so they can't dig up the roots. The seeds germinated this week and were well watered by our caring students.

Thursday during Science we were excited to find our first eggs! It was lovely to hear one of the students say "thank you chickens."

Some creative names for our new chickens have been put forward!

Students enjoyed the last of the asparagus, snow peas and broccoli today. During Science the students had fun making and tasting stir fry with Jacqui, using produce from our garden. With some great team work we got our sugar can mulch into the chook pen to provide cover from the sun to promote soil life. It will also encourage the chooks to scratch for insects and dig up weeds.
