(hello, welcome)
Â
Welcome back to Term 4! It’s wild that we’re already here. I hope you all had a restful break, reconnecting with family and friends, and spending time doing the things you love. As we head into Term 4, we’re excited to continue our learning journey together, building on everything we’ve achieved so far.Â

STEMÂ
This term, with our strong emphasis on science, we kicked off our learning by diving into some exciting S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) challenges. Our first challenge involved creating and testing paper planes, guiding learners through the scientific process of inquiry—investigating, questioning, trialling, and refining their designs.Â
Next, alongside our Grade 2 learners, we took on the challenge of designing catapults to launch beads as far as possible. The variety of ideas, teamwork, and self-determination displayed during this activity was truly inspiring. It was incredible to witness the creativity and determination of our young, outside-the-box thinkers!

Research Project  Â
Provocation
Learners began by watching a thought-provoking video titled One Earth, which sparked deep reflection. They then chose how to present their ideas, linking them to Earth and Space Science as well as Biological Science. Through creative projects, they explored ecosystems and human impact. The learners' quotes emphasise the importance of preserving Earth's delicate balance for future generations and our role in protecting the planet.
Â
I reckon it'd be nicer weather with less pollution, I think there would be more sun - SebÂ
More people, more pollution - RiverÂ
People are biting into Earth's resources - AndyÂ
Most of the Earth is taken for granted - LewisÂ
The Earth can't support itself when we take too much - IvyÂ
We have some exciting plans in the 4/5/6 learning space this term, and this week we began bringing them to life! Learners collaborated to research how to best sow, grow, and dry seeds to share with others, using rich texts as resources. They followed the scientific process by asking questions, gathering research, and sharing their findings with the group.Â
