Year 3/4 Camp Experience
What an incredible adventure for both students and teachers!
Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Jess, our guide, who led most of the activities over the three days.
We kicked off with an exciting orienteering activity that took us to every corner of the property as we searched for numbered signposts.
Our second activity on Day One involved raft building, which really enhanced the students' design skills. They made several adjustments and showcased their impressive teamwork. We also got to witness Jack’s remarkable knot-tying abilities!
Unfortunately, none of the rafts were quite secure enough, resulting in a few unexpected (and chilly) dips!
Afterward, students returned to their dorms to set up their rooms and prepare for dinner. The first night’s meal was a delicious spread of lasagna and meatballs, topped off with apple crumble for dessert.
Following dinner, we embarked on a night walk. While we didn’t have much luck spotting wildlife, we did see a few kangaroos!
Aside from a few giggles, most campers drifted off to sleep quite smoothly!
Day Two:
Bright and early, we were up and ready to play outside! After breakfast, we kicked off the day with our first activity: archery. The boys quickly grasped the concepts of angles, resulting in some impressive long-range shots! We then had some time to explore the hills while we waited for our next adventure: mountain biking.
After a brief introduction to biking, we set off on the trails. Every student showed courage to step outside their comfort zones, giving each track a go!
Our final activity of Day Two was the flying fox, the girls demonstrated incredible bravery— while some of the boys let out a few squeals! :)
For dinner on our second night, we enjoyed delicious burgers and sausages, which were a hit with everyone. Dessert was pavlova!
After dinner, we gathered around the fire to roast marshmallows. A brave group of riders, including Miss Gab and James, set off for an evening mountain bike ride, with teachers stepping outside their comfort zones this time!
Day Three:
Everyone was up and most rooms packed up by 7am! -Super impressive organisational skills by this year’s campers. After breakfast we had some more time to go another mountain bike ride.
All together we went to the Maker. Shed where students had a choice to make damper, hang by the fire, do some wood chopping or hang out with the chickens in the coop.
After a hotdog for lunch, we were on the bus returning to school.
Overall, we all had a great time. The camp provided wonderful bonding moments, opportunities to try something new and the chance to grow in confidence.
Well done everyone!
