Updates from Miss Maree

Dear Families,

Our return to Term Four has been a wonderful start. Students (and staff) have adjusted back to their school routines after the holidays (and daylight savings) beautifully. Visitors to our school this week noticed and commented on how settled the students were and engaged in their learning.

Our 3/4 students, along with Miss Gab and James had a wonderful experience at Camp Nillacootie (with students from St Mary's Rushworth), where they enjoyed activities such as raft building, zip-lining, orienteering and mountain bike riding. Make sure you check out the Middle Learning page to read more about their fun adventures. We sincerely thank Gab and James for their time on the camp- these wonderful opportunities wouldn't happen if not for our amazing dedicated staff.

Next Friday 25th October we are recognising the wonderful Grandparents and Special people we have in our lives by inviting them to a special day starting with assembly at 10am, followed by morning tea, mass (11.30) and a collaborative art activity from 12.30 to 1.30pm. Could each family please provide a plate of food to share as part of the morning tea.

Early next week I will be emailing and sending out a hardcopy letter to all families outlining what 2025 will look like- CES direction, staffing and classroom structures, pupil free dates etc. Please check your emails and students bags for this important information.

A fundraiser that we are doing this year is a calendar where local businesses sponsor a month of the year and students dress up and use props to advertise that business. This idea was the brainwave of a past parent, Jacqui Anderson, who did this fundraiser 19 years ago and it was a huge success. I have done it more recently at my previous school and we are now redoing it again where it all started. Permission notes and information will go home next week with what your child will be doing and what they may need to wear (nothing too outrageous I assure you). Calendars will hopefully be available for sale by the start of December. They will make fantastic Christmas gifts for grandparents and family members. Below are a few photos from past shoots to see what it will look like.

As the weather warms up students have been reminded about the importance of watching out for snakes while in the yard. If you could reinforce this at home it would be much appreciated. School hats are also a requirement in Term Four. If your child does not have a school hat they will be asked to play in the shade. School hats can be purchased from the office for $15 each.

Finally thank you to everyone who was either asked or randomly chosen to fill out surveys and have interviews these past few months on the improvement of our school or on my leadership/work as a principal. These reviews and audits, although time consuming play an important role in ensuring our school is meeting expectations of the Department of Education and Catholic Education Sandhurst. I am very proud to say we passed all reviews with flying colours. I will pass on some of this information or data in the upcoming newsletters.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Enjoy this little spot of rain we are having - the farmers will hopefully be happy!

Take care and stay safe,

Maree
