Principal's Message

End of Term 3

As we conclude the last week of Term 3, we get a brief chance to reflect on a very busy and successful few weeks. Amongst a wide array of college events, Winter Sports, Athletics Carnivals, Christian Service activities, Wellness Week, the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, College and Year Assemblies and various excursions and presentations, our boys have been strongly encouraged to strive for personal excellence throughout. This is particularly true of our senior Year 12 boys as they enter the final stages of their formal schooling and prepare for their College Graduation. In recent weeks, all Year 12 students have been busy completing final assessment items and preparing for upcoming exams as they recently completed their final set of formal lessons.

Throughout this final week of term, a large number of our Year 12 students have commenced their Semester 2 Examinations. These important exams will continue in the second week of the ‘holiday break’. Similarly, some of our students enrolled in practical Courses will take part in their respective WACE Practical Examinations throughout next week. This is all part of their preparation for the written WACE Examinations that commence on 28 October. As always, we wish the boys well during this busy time and remind them that hard work and commitment bring due reward. It is important that our senior students commit wholeheartedly to achieving their best over the coming weeks. We are very proud of our Class of 2024, they have left a wonderful legacy, and we look forward to joining them in celebrating their Graduation on 17 October.

We are also very much looking forward to our annual Secondary School Presentation Night which will be held at the Perth Concert Hall on Tuesday, 15 October commencing at 7.00pm. Extensive planning and preparation has been underway for several weeks as we seek to acknowledge our respective Student Award recipients and showcase some of our talented students through the various performance items. Notification to Student Award recipients for Years 7-11 has been emailed to families in recent days. Families of Award recipients in Year 12, for both General Courses and ATAR Courses, will be emailed as soon as Marks and Grades are finalised. The Presentation Night is a wonderful occasion for celebrating our sense of community and we welcome the opportunity to acknowledge our boys.

As is normally the case in a large school such as Trinity College, we will see some Staff changes at the end of this term. Mr John Abordi (Science) and Miss Jessica Donovan (Education Assistant) will enjoy some extended leave during Term 4. We wish them a wonderful and relaxing break.  We also take this opportunity to thank the efforts of Mr Michael Murphy (HoLA - Health and Physical Education) and Ms Rebecca Bryant (Head of Year 11) who have been very generous and hard working in completing the respective Acting roles.

We also look forward to welcoming some new Staff who will commence at the start of Term 4; Miss Abigail Acton (Drama), Mr George Cokis (Mathematics) and Mr Jacob Russell (Education Assistant. Next Term, we also welcome back Mr David Allen, Ms Rita Basilio, Mr Joshua Bumbak and Mrs Rosa West who are returning from a period of extended leave.

I am also pleased to inform our College Community that Mr James McPherson has been appointed as the Head of Junior School commencing in 2025. James is a very proud Trinity Old Boy (’06), who most recently held a leadership position at Aquinas College. He is very excited to be returning to Trinity and we look forward to his vision and leadership of the Junior School as we commence next year.

Finally, I take this opportunity to thank the staff, students and their families for their ongoing efforts and support during Term 3. The students will commence next term on Monday, 7 October and they should be dressed in their full College summer uniform.

I hope that everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing holiday break.

Live Jesus in our hearts

Mr Darren O’Neill

Principal
