Environmental Group
Environmental Council starts return and earn project.
After over a year in planning, the Environmental Council has started the Return and Earn project at the school. The aim of the project is to raise money for current St Vincent De Paul projects that are running in Tamworth. This project will also assist in reducing the amount of rubbish that accumulates in the school ground.
The Return and Earn bins have been donated to the school thanks to the generosity of Bunnings. The bins look like the photos and are clearly marked.
McCarthy Catholic College and Oxley High School are currently the only two schools that are running such projects. Both of the schools work with the St Vincent de Paul Society bulk-processing facility, which operates in Taminda. Both schools donate 100% of the funds. Currently, McCarthy has collected and donated $18, which we hope to increase over the next few months as the project starts to gain momentum.
The Environmental Council is asking that all students and families support this cause. It is important that only the 10c containers are placed in these bins, as volunteers empty these during a Thursday lunch break. The 10c containers can also be placed in the recycle bins in each of the classrooms.
This is a great cause for all of us to get behind as a school community. The Environmental Council is looking for volunteers to help be involved in this project. If you are willing to get involved or are interested in helping in many of the other projects currently being run by the Environmental Council, please come and join us.
The Environmental Council runs every Thursday, second break, in Lab 1.
Please support this cause.
