Grade Six

Grade 6 in 2023 has been our best year in Oatlands that we’ve ever had! The time has flown so fast and we will definitely miss all the fun times we’ve had in Grade 6!

At the start of the year, we had our Grade 6 camp! It gave us a great opportunity to make new friends, connect with our teachers and build our resilience. Camp was a fantastic way to start the year!

Our favourite maths unit was Ice Cream Inventor! We got to design new ice cream flavours with a partner and then we voted on who’s ice cream flavour would actually be made. From this unit we learnt how to find the cost per serving and profit that was made.

In our integrated unit we did Passion Projects! We got to choose whether we studied Sport, Fashion Design, History, Performing Arts and Coding and Digital Design. We have a certain end product and we also have to write a magazine page on something we’ve learnt from Passion Projects classes.

Coming up we have our bowling day where we will go bowling then have hot chip lunch at the park. This week the grade six students get to participate in Coach Approach which is when professional athletes come to our school and teach us things about a specific sport. Lastly we have our graduation night where we all get awarded for finishing primary school! We are all looking forward to these events. This has been the best year we’ve ever had, and we will definitely carry on the knowledge Oatlands has taught us to Secondary School.
