Year 5 & 6

Around our level

The Year 5/6 students have settled in extremely well and the majority are really looking forward to the camp in March. The Year 6 students were so excited to get their Year 6 bomber jackets on the first day of school for 2024. It was a warm day but some students wore them proudly all day. Year 5 students eagerly waited for the arrival of their Prep buddies, which occurred this week. As you can see from our photos, the Gaga Pit is still a very popular addition to our school grounds.

On Thursday 15th February, we are running a day for the Year 6 captains. We will talk about their roles and they will have an opportunity to share their ideas. They will also organise activities for all the Year 6 students to participate in after lunch. The Year 5 students will have an opportunity to spend time with their buddies after lunch on this day.

Each fortnight we ask the students a question in Google Classroom and we include some of their responses in the school newsletter. This week’s question:

‘What are you looking forward to this year?’

5/6A

Sporting events. Field day, cross country, hoop time, interschool sports and tabloid sports. I think sport is a great thing that brings our school together and allows us to make new friendships. A great way to teach young kids sportsmanship and how to do specific sports. Keeping us fit and having fun!!!

Lanni

Playing with my buddy and going to camp.

Cleo

5\6 sport as I can improve in all skills, meeting my buddy and the teddy bear picnic.  I'm also excited for what challenges will come.

Ivy

I want to get to know more people and have great fun with my new class.

Oscar M

Camp because we get to go on a zipline and go into a pet place with lizards and other animals.

Max

5/6B

Buddies, 5/6 Gala Sports day and playing in the gaga pit.

Kaden

I am looking forward to camp this year because I like reptiles (especially lizards) and there is a reptile enclosure at the camp. I am also looking forward to being with my friends at camp. I am hoping we do another bizarre bazaar.

Sophie K

I'm looking forward to being a leader and captain. I'm so excited to be speaking in front of the whole school and helping run junior school council meetings with Scarlett F. I hope/know that we can make our already amazing school better. I'm also very excited for the great activities planned for grade 5/6s. All in all I know it will be an amazing year.

Isla

I am looking forward to being a captain, enjoying my last year of primary school, being a role model for the younger kids, helping our school to be better than it already is, year 5/6 camp and my first graduation.

Lily R

I'm looking forward to camp, production, buddies, teddy bear picnic, being a grade five, my teacher, making new friends, being in the BER, 5/6 sport, interschool sport, art, PE, music, Indonesian, science, raffles, 5/6 lounge, purple quills, being someone to look up to for other people, being a leader, disco, excursions, incursions, mateship, art show, Christmas Concert, footy day, tabloid sports, class parties, cross country, athletics, book week, crazy hair day, free dress days, holidays, elves, book fair, bizarre bazaar, day on the green, stalls, stepping up and working in the area outside our 5/6 classrooms.

5/6C

I'm looking forward to the teddy bear picnic for an incredible memory with my buddy. I’m really excited for camp and for all the incredible food and games we will play. I'm looking forward to this year because I know that there's a lot of exciting things planned.

Giselle

I'm looking forward to writing bigger and better stories with better vocabulary and verbs, as well as reading harder books. I'm basically looking forward to this whole year.

Aisha

I am looking forward to a lot in Year 6 this year. I am looking forward to the Year 6 Big Day Out since I heard it was fun. Another thing is probably camp as it sounds super exciting. Last year Grade 6s went and they said it was the best camp ever. Last but not least is graduation, it will be a highlight of the year. It will be sad but also exciting to go on to the next adventure.

Alice

Camp because the Year 6s  from last year say it was the best camp ever. I'm also looking forward to having my teacher.

Jack

This year I'm looking forward to being the leaders of the school because we're going to have new responsibilities. And learning new things with Mrs Haysom and doing maths. I'm also looking forward to getting to know my  classmates better.
