PRAYER

Hail, Mary, full of grace,

the Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners,

now and at the hour of our death.

                                                                        Amen.

From the Principal

Dear Parents and families,

As Term One comes to an end I express my gratitude to all staff at St Philip’s for their ongoing commitment and dedication to our students and their families. It has been a positive and productive term with all students settling into classroom routines and engaging in teaching and learning activities.

All learning this term has been underpinned by our broad concept ‘belonging’. Having this as our focus has enabled students to experience a sense of belonging and connectedness to our community while also learning how they can support others through respectful relationships. Their learning from this term also contributes to our celebration of Harmony Day next Monday.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day will be celebrated next Monday, 31 March. The themes for Harmony Day 2025 include connectedness, inclusiveness and respect. Students are invited to wear a splash of orange, the colour that represents harmony, or their cultural dress.

Staff News

At the end of the term we will farewell Mrs Louise Callander who is leaving for personal reasons. Louise has worked with many families during her four years at St Philip’s and we thank her for her contribution and dedication. We will all miss her and wish her well for the future.

I am pleased to advise that Mrs Grace Wu will join the St Philip’s team commencing Term Two. Grace has been with us since Term Four, 2024, and in that time has developed positive relationships with students and staff. We welcome Grace to our school.

Project Compassion

Supporting Project Compassion is important to our students, not just from the charitable aspect of donating money but also in learning that their contribution can create change in the lives of others. Students learn that the money we donate to Caritas contributes to the implementation of initiatives such as education programs, agricultural projects, and developing infrastructure that supports clean drinking water in communities. These initiatives contribute to the dignity of others through increasing their participation in society and giving them a voice in their own communities. Our student leaders have suggested that the money we raise through our weekly cake raffles is donated to Caritas.

School Closure Days Term Two

Early next term two school closure days have been planned. As preciously indicated, the first closure day is Thursday 24 April when staff will engage in first aid training. The second closure day is Wednesday 7 May. On this day, all St Philip’s staff will engage in professional learning facilitated by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. Further information will be provided regarding this day in the near future.

Warm Regards,

Michelle Worcester
