Year 7

Welcome back to term 2. I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break and it was great to see the students returning to school with renewed energy and enthusiasm for the term ahead. It’s been a joy to see our Year 7 students back after the holidays, reconnecting with friends, sharing holiday stories, and stepping confidently into Term 2.

Our students have now completed a full term of secondary school – a huge milestone! The transition from primary to secondary school is no small feat, and I want to take a moment to commend each and every student on the resilience, curiosity, and adaptability they’ve shown. Whether it’s learning to navigate a timetable, meeting new teachers, or simply finding their place in a larger community, our Year 7's have already come so far.

Term 2 is an exciting time for growth and consolidation. Students will begin to deepen their learning, build stronger relationships with peers and teachers, and engage more meaningfully with school life. It’s also a term where routines really begin to stick – which helps set them up for long-term success. I encourage families to continue supporting their children in maintaining good habits around homework, organisation, and wellbeing.

This term we have a focus for all students on our Positive Classroom Management Strategies. These are evidence-based approaches to ensure that we have students working to their potential. Specifically, we have started a school wide focus on entry and exit to classrooms. By having set routines, students know what to expect each lesson and this contributes to a safe and orderly learning environment.

With the weather now getting colder, students should be transitioning to their winter uniform. If your child needs any assistance with uniform, please ask them to speak to their tutor teacher. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns – we are here to support you and your child every step of the way.

I look forward to seeing all the wonderful things our Year 7 students will achieve in Term 2.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 7

As we find ourselves well into another bustling and exciting term, it’s the perfect time to hit pause and give a big round of applause to our incredible Year 7's! They've taken on the journey of high school with energy and resilience, and it’s been fantastic to watch them settle into routines, find their stride, and start shaping their own rhythm for learning and growth.

Settling into Year 7 is more than just navigating new timetables and assessments — it’s about discovering where they fit in, building friendships, and connecting with peers and teachers who will inspire them along the way. Our students are not just learning in the classroom, but also finding their voice and place in our school community.

Our Year 7 students have been doing a fantastic job mastering the entry and exit routines, and it’s already making a noticeable difference. By arriving promptly, entering classrooms calmly, and getting organised quickly, they’re setting themselves up for success each session. These smooth transitions are helping students begin each class feeling settled, focused, and ready to engage in their learning — creating a more positive and productive environment for everyone. It’s been great to see them take responsibility and show pride in these daily habits.

It’s already been a jam-packed term! From the Cross-Country event, to diving into new challenges like the Healthy Minds program with Dr Abby and proudly showcasing their talents at the Enrichment Expo — our Year 7’s have embraced it all with enthusiasm. And there’s still more to come! We’re looking forward to more Assemblies (Year level and Middle School), Healthy Minds presentations and lessons, Tutor Challenges, exciting excursions and incursions like the Wyndham Tech School visit, Wellbeing Day, and of course, lots more learning.

As we look ahead, let’s continue building a space where every Year 7 feels supported, safe, and ready to thrive. We’ll keep celebrating their wins — big and small — and providing the guidance and encouragement they need to shine.

Here’s to a term full of growth, joy, and discovery!
